Big news from Guesthouse Husky:
Exactly two months ago, on Friday, 14th June 2024 we sold the business of Guesthouse Husky to Wilderness Safaris Saariselkä/Northern Lights Village.
We were not actively selling our business, but as we got the sudden offer to buy it all, we ended up to this decision. For sure it was not an easy decision to give up our whole life. It is not only the working place but also our home we are losing at the same time!
Juha-Pekka was a young man with passion for huskies when he started to build this husky farm 36 years ago. For me these 14 years with guesthouse were a dream to come true and I really loved my work with guests from all over the world. However, when getting older you start realizing your limits what it concerns all the hard 24/7/365 work you need to do when running your own guesthouse and husky farm. So, when the option to sell suddenly came up we decided to go for it and here we are - in front of a huge change in our life.
We will see what future brings, but one thing is already clear: Juha-Pekka will continue racing with his huskies. What else can you expect from a man who has got huskies already over 40 years 😄.
How exactly everything will be under the new owner you will see in the future. In any case the husky farm and guesthouse will be run under a new name, the era of Guesthouse Husky has come to its end.
One family member you will still meet at the farm as Konsta will continue to work for the new owner. He will guide the overnight husky tours as well as day trips and run them together with the same dogs as earlier. Let’s hope that through Konsta and the huskies bred by Juha-Pekka you will still feel at least a little glimpse of Guesthouse Husky spirit when visiting this place.
