Under the sunsets of Lapland, everything slows down. The sky turns gold, the air grows still, and for a moment, there’s nowhere else you need to be. 🌅

Lapland’s Gold🧡

Hidden among the wild landscapes surrounding Villa Lake Ruka grows one of the North’s most precious treasures — the cloudberry.

Known in Finland as lakka or hilla, this delicate amber berry ripens beneath the endless light of the northern summer. Rare, fragrant and naturally rich in vitamins and antioxidants, it has long been treasured as the gold of Lapland.

Here, nature invites you to discover it for yourself. Finland’s Everyman’s Rights — jokamiehenoikeudet — allow everyone to wander freely through the forests and countryside and gather wild berries along the way, while respecting nature and the privacy of others.

In late summer, step outside the villa and wander into the surrounding landscape. Look carefully among the moss and wetlands — you may find small drops of amber glowing beneath the northern sky.

A taste of Lapland, found exactly where nature intended.

In the stillness of Ruka’s wilderness, you might be lucky enough to meet the Kuukkeli — the Siberian Jay, known in Finnish folklore as the forest’s spirit bird.🪶

Curious, fearless, and often seen following hikers in the fells, it’s said to bring good fortune to those it visits.🧡
