On a July weekend like today, Finnish cities become much quieter.

That's because Finns are at their "mökki" (summer cottage).

And for many, the first thing to do after arriving is to heat the sauna.

Finland is home to more than 500,000 summer cottages and over 3 million saunas. Practically every summer cottage has a sauna, and most traditional mökki saunas are freestanding, wood-fired log buildings, often located by a lake or the sea.

The mökki sauna is much more than a place to wash. It's where Finns slow down, reconnect with nature, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy the simplicity of summer life.

Thinking about visiting Finland? Rent a summer cottage with a sauna, or, if you're lucky, spend a weekend at a Finnish friend's mökki. It might just become the highlight of your trip. 🇫🇮🔥
