ROOM LAAVU: THE LEAN-TO 🔥🌲

A laavu is a small wilderness shelter in nature to rest, cook a simple meal, but and warm up by the fire – some people also sleep the nights there. Laavu has been an important part of the hiking culture in Finland and you can find hundreds of them all over the country – that’s why we chose it as one of our themes.

Our room LAAVU carries the same warm atmosphere inside. The room has 23 m² of space and made for two. It has a queen-size bed, its own kitchen and a bathroom with a rain shower. Breakfast supplies are included in the room rate.

The electric fireplace is in the center of the room, so you can enjoy it from the bed or from one of the armchairs in the living room.

HAAWE: A JOURNEY THROUGH LAPLAND ✨

When we designed Haawe, we had a bold idea: what if the different rooms of the hotel could take you on a journey through Lapland, showing its beauty, landscapes, seasons and natural phenomena?

And when it came to choosing the setting for the hotel, there was no better place than this historic building from 1933, right in the heart of Rovaniemi!

We ended up with fourteen rooms, each one unique, with its own atmosphere and its own window into Lapland.

This is where the journey begins: through snow and autumn colours, following a mountain brook towards a waterfall, crossing rock and ice, and pausing along the way to admire the silence of the fells. The journey continues under the northern lights, through the warmth of old kelowood and the first gleam of dawn, before reaching the shelter of a kota.

Each room tells its part of the story through colours, light, materials and Finnish design. And, if you stay with us again, you can continue the journey in another room!

Room Tunturipuro – The Mountain Brook 🌊

Our room Tunturipuro takes its name from the clear streams that run through Lapland fells and forests.

The purity of water is reflected inside the room with glass, stone and a mixture of light and dark materials. The sleeping area is raised above the living space, and smooth pebbles massage your feet while you enjoy the rain shower.

Tunturipuro offers 29 m² of space and can accommodate up to three guests. It has its own kitchen, with breakfast supplies waiting for you in the room.

Surrounded by Finnish design 🇫🇮

At Haawe, Finnish design is everywhere! You drink from it, have breakfast from it and wrap yourself in it after a shower.

One of our highlights is the Ultima Thule glasses, designed by Tapio Wirkkala. They have been manufactured since 1968, and their ice-like surface was inspired by the Arctic nature Wirkkala knew from his summer place in Inari.

Or, take Marimekko Oiva tableware and their thick Räsymatto bathrobes. These pieces were made to be used, and at Haawe, you can practically live with them for a few days.

Soon, Lapland will be covered in snow again! One of our rooms – Hanki – is inspired by the endless snowy terrains or the North.

The rooms Finnish name Hanki means a snowdrift – or the deep layer of snow that covers the landscape through winter.

The room follows the same idea with soft whites and pastel colours, with lots of natural light and a raised sleeping area.

Hanki is one of our largest rooms with 45.5 m², providing space for up to four guests. It has a queen-size bed, a separate kitchen and living area, and a bathtub and rain shower right next to the sleeping area. Which, after a cold day outside, is a rather good place for them to be! :)

And soon, the view outside will match the room again. ❄️

Room Ruska - The Colours Of Autumn 🍂

Ruska is the Finnish name for the autumn colour season, when the forests turn yellow, orange and deep red! In Rovaniemi you can see ruska throughout September.

Our Ruska room takes its colours from this part of the Lapland year. Warm autumn shades run through the interior, with a separate shower room placed between the sleeping and living areas to give both spaces a little more privacy.

Ruska is a 35 m² Deluxe room for up to four guests, with a queen-size bed, sofa bed, rain shower and its own fully equipped kitchen. Breakfast supplies are included in the room rate.

And if you want to see the real ruska while you are here, Ounasvaara hill with its forests is just across the river from city centre and Haawe!
