Things to consider when traveling for Northern Lights:

- Choose the optimal geographical location.
Just barely being within the Arctic Circle is not enough for the best odds, even though, for example, Southern Lapland has hundreds of Aurora tours on offer, it doesn't mean the Auroras are there; it just means it has become a tourism hub.
In Finnish Lapland, the best locations for Northern Lights can be found in the Utsjoki region and near Kilpisjärvi.

- Choose the optimal unobstructed view location:
The geographical location might be spot on, but you are in or near a city or a ski slope --> Light pollution and the mist from snow guns will obstruct your Aurora viewing. Look for small remote locations and resorts that steer clear of also producing their own light pollution. A glass igloo is a fun, trending social media post, but it is not the choice for the serious, knowledgeable Aurora hunter or Aurora tour operator.

- Leave enough room for weather to weather.
Auroras are seen in the Arctic regions during autumn and winter. Another thing that is seen here around that time is a lot of changing weather like snowstorms . For the Northern Lights to be seen, we need somewhat clear skies --> This means it is best to plan for a stay longer than just a couple of days. Our Northern Lights holidays are 5 night long packages set in optimal location, and ALL of our Northern Lights holiday guests have experienced the Auroras with us for 9 years already.
