This is one of those “Restores your faith in human nature” moments … I lost the number plate from the trailer and thought I should retrace my steps from when I last used it.
But a few days later driving up the Grand Corniche someone had found it and stood it next to the light pole. I”ll have to print a Merci sign and put it on the lamppost with a picture of me with the matriculation. Thank you kind stranger.

I helped to remove these radiators from a house near Nice and I couldn’t bear the idea of throwing them in a skip at the dechetterie.

People make garden furniture out of pallets but it’s hard to make them look good. The DIY shop Leroy Merlin sells huge cushions each year designed for that.

So I thought … Surely I can do something like that with these incredibly heavy but attractive objects to me.
I got an old glass table top from a great Troc and the bean bag cushions are really comfortable.

The irises don’t come out every year but it was a big surprise to see them look so brilliant in this pot this spring.

When the clouds of Corsica are particularly clear you have to try to capture them. I wish I had a good camera on me. I think the height of the mountains there and the 500 metre elevation of the auberge mean we can see clearly now. I like to think we can see the peaks of the mountain over the curve of the horizon.

Very impressed with the extension to the Parc du Paillon in the heart of Nice.
It’s early days with the impressive planting but once they grow it will be a wonderful haven.
It changes the city from a very human perspective…. Views of the architecture framing the park from the paths give a completely different feel to the city.
The greening of Nice throughout the streets … with gardens and large potted plants and cycle and pedestrian paths … make it a gorgeous city.
I just wish the cyclists would stick to their cycle lanes and stop going through red lights… they do even with children on their bikes and ride the wrong way up one-way roads !
There should be no cycling in the park and it looks like there will be paths alongside the park.
It takes 30 minutes to walk from the sea to the Palais des expositions at Acropolis… which would make a great interior atrium garden space like Parc Phoenix if they decide to extend the park further along the Paillon River.
The river has long been covered by the park and the extension features some more natural ponds who hopefully won’t harbour mosquitos… the fountains in one pond should be used in all of them.
Perhaps they have treated the water to prevent that.
I would like to see if an extension to the park could include some rock dams to create larger water lakes and encourage wildlife and allow some suitable planting as they have started to do in the shallow extension pools .
The river dries up to narrow flows to reveal rocky river beds … so I’d like to see if dams could allow some water leisure activities on the river … if it’s safe to do so.
The biggest hit with children was the flying fox. The queue was long so they should install another couple to cope with demand.
There appears to be a small skateboard track and that could have been made more impressive … but there has to be a balance with safely for all the children.
There are some quite open spaces that could be have been used for some sports activities with smaller courts … for volleyball or ping pong?
Perhaps they don’t want to disturb the tranquility of the park too much.
There are climbing frames for children but they could have incorporated those larger tree courses in parks like Battersea.
