Les Deux Lacs is situated in a small hamlet of Menesplier, about 5 minutes away from the nearest village Abjat sur Bandiat and about 7 minutes from St Saud. Our gite is brand new and fully furnished, with 1 double room, 1 twin room, bathroom with shower and an open plan lounge/kitchen. There is a sofa bed that can sleep another 2 guests, plus we can also provide a travel cot. There is a large deck

ing area, with an outside dining table and chairs, so sit back and enjoy those late summer evenings with views over the smaller lake. We have a private pool, playground, tyre swings and a lake to enjoy. While we also offer various board games and outdoor games, like football or swingball. Les Deux Lacs sits in a triangle between the culturally important cities of Limoges, Perigueux and Angouleme in the North Eastern Dordogne. Les Deux Lacs is situated in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park, aiming to protect and enhance the natural, cultural and architectural heritage of the region. The great diversity of its landscapes makes it a remarkable place of rivers, limestone plateaus, forests, cliffs, Chateau’s, natural lakes and ponds. There are some beautiful swimming lakes and sporting activities to find nearby, St Saud lake and St Estephe, to only name a few. You could spend many hours swimming, walking, cycling and taking in the stunning country side views. Les Deux Lacs is a self-catering holiday rental, to ensure you can get your holiday started as soon as you arrive, we offer a number of additional services to make your time with us as relaxing and as enjoyable as possible. We also offer guests the option to take the burden out of their holiday by letting us prepare you breakfast and/or cook for you in the evening.

𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗲 (𝟭𝟰), 𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲, 𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘄, 𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱! 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗕!

Returning guests and family friends, Karen and Paul, brought Grandson, Freddie, along with them this year, who only had 1 target in mind... a Catfish!!

Another very hard weeks fishing followed, although conditions seemed better than previous weeks, but the fish weren't playing ball, and again, looking at other catch reports from local lakes, we're not alone.

Despite the fishing being extremely tough, Wednesday morning, Freddie, had a 5.30am wake up call, and what followed was a 1hour 10min fight (and a great learning experience), before successfully landing a 63lbs 13oz Cat, which was the one thing he came for and thoroughly deserved!! 🎣👌🏻

With only 8 fish caught throughout the week between them, Freddie left with a New PB Cat and a New PB Carp. Grandad Paul also left extremely happy, having caught his first ever Grass Carp, which was then followed by 2 of our Albino Grassies.

They've already re-booked for next April and have their targets firmly set on landing new PB's again then! See you next year!

𝗔 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗕!

Last week, we had returning guests Danny & Janine joining us here at 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔 again, this time with good friends Ritchie & Ally!

And what a HOT week it was for May! The massive spike in temperature up to 35°C, had huge effects on the lake, completely switching the fish off! Fish could be seen basking in the sun, cruising just under the surface, and preparing to spawn... everything but feeding.

Local lakes all reporting the same conditions, with no fish being caught, it was going to be a tough week for the guys.

Not to be out down, Danny & Ritchie fished hard all week, and their determination paid off. Managing 6 fish between them, very good considering the conditions, including a new PB for Ritchie with a lovely Mirror, and an elusive Common known as AWOL for Danny, a cracking mid 30 warrior.

Janine & Ally certainly enjoyed the sunshine, spending time sunbathing, using the pool and staying cool with our 2 new features for 2026; Air-conditioning in the Gite and our brand new pergola on the swim offering plenty of shade!

A tough week, but great angling guys, look forward to you both returning again when conditions are better suited. As you both said, you have "unfinished business"! See you soon!

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗕 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 (𝟭𝟭) - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆!!

Last week, we had the pleasure of meeting Josh, Nicola, Mason, and Noah, all the way from Cardiff. Visiting 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔 for the first time for relaxing holiday... and of course, some fishing 🎣

The week started, cold, wet, and miserable, with the heating needing to be on in the Gite, but finished with highs of 30°C, days spent in the pool, and complete relaxation. ☀️

Fishing was second on the priorities, behind spending quality time together, playing games, badminton, football, and swimming.

Only fishing 2 nights, it was the last night when 11 year old Mason landed a 27lbs + Mirror, matching his current PB to the ounce, and having the honor of naming her Bella. This was then shortly followed by a fish called Baxter, 30lbs on the nose!! A new PB for Mason, new family memories made, and a photo to last a lifetime, thanks to dad Josh holding it on Mason's behalf for the photo! 📸

Another week over here at 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔 and another lovely family we've said goodbye to, but not for good, as they're booking to return in August 2028, and we look forward to having them back!

To follow on from the record-breaking previous week would always be a challenge, but it wasn't long until Sean was into his first fish and managed 12 in total!

Family time and relaxing by the lake was the main focus of the week, and they certainly did that, leaving us fully relaxed and heading further south for a week in the Spanish sunshine.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗔 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸!! 𝟱𝟯 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 - 𝗔 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱

Last week, our favourite Cypriot family returned to Les Deux Lacs for their 3rd visit here, and what a week it was!!

George, Andry and Michalis arrived on Saturday afternoon, and conditions for fishing were perfect, compared to previous weeks. Cooler temperatures, low air pressure, cloudy with showers most days, and the odd down pour and storm... proper carpy weather!

It took George less than an hour before he landed his first fish of the week... and then it just didn't stop... at times, we didn't even have enough slings to rest the fish before we could photograph and weigh each one!

𝟱𝟯 fish in total!! A new lake record!! 𝟰𝟴 Carp ranging from 9lbs-46lbs and 𝟱 Cats to 66lbs were caught, but not a single grassie.

Our 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘆 𝗡𝘂𝘁 and 𝗥𝘂𝗺 & 𝗥𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 doing the business, crumbed and halved, mixed with our 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁, soaked in both our 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗹𝘂𝗴𝘀 and a scoop of lake water to get it nice and soggy but stull packed full of attraction. Hookbait of choice was our house boilie, paired with its 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗽-𝘂𝗽... the fish just couldn't resist it!

Of course, George didn't have all the fun, a huge thank you to Andry, landing 3 herself on George's behalf, whilst she kept an eye on the rods for him to spend time playing with son Michalis.

We always love having George and Andry stay with us and like many of our regular/returning families, they're no longer just guests, but now good friends of ours, and we look forward to visiting them in Cyprus soon!

See you again next year... let's see what new record you can set then!!

''𝗪𝗢𝗪" is all we can say... a mid week post to acknowledge George and his lovely family, breaking the lake record for 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝟭 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 here at Les Deux Lacs!

The previous record stood at 42 fish caught in 1 week... however, tonight George has just landed number 𝟰𝟰... and he still has 2 full days to go!!

Let's see what the final number is come Saturday morning when... we'll done George!

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟱 - 𝗔 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘂𝘅 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝘀!

Last week, we had the pleasure of having first-time visitors, Bernard, Rabea, and Esmalina, from the Netherlands, stay with us here, and what a nice week it was.

Bernard, an experienced angler and carp bait producer/enthusiast, fished only mornings and evenings and managed 9 Carp and 3 Cats, with Rabea landing 1 too.

Days were spent relaxing lake side, playing badminton exploring the local market in Piegut, discovering the prehistoric Caves of 'Grotte de Villar' and taking in the stunning views of Brantome.

The perfect mix of fishing, family time, and exploring the local region resulted in some lovely fish caught, family memories made, and new places discovered.

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟰 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘂𝘅 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗲 & 𝗡𝗶𝗸𝗸𝗶!

Last week we welcomed back Jamie & Nikki to Les Deux Lacs for their second visit... and they booked up their 3rd visit before they even left!

After tough conditions the week before, the week started slow, very similar conditions, deja vu almost, fish showing on baited spots, but no bites... Then a slight change in weather, a change of hook bait midweek (thanks to Nikki's suggestion), and slight movement in spots, Jamie soon started to land a few fish, managing 14 in the end, with some of Les Deux Lacs known residents, Neville, Frank and newly named Flat Line & Pop Up.

It wasn't just the Carp that had switched on and started feeding again, Jamie landed 3 albino grassies (we only have 3), a regular grassie, and unfortunately lost our large Cat after a short battle!

Nikki, on hand as always for netting duties, sling & cradle prep and photos, done a fantastic job, but when not bank side, spent time out and about practicing her French whilst exploring local villages and markets by bike 🚲 bien joué!

A lovely week with a lovely couple. We're already looking forward to your next visit in April 2028, but we're sure we'll be seeing Jamie again very soon lending a helping hand this coming winter with some lake renovation work 👍🏻

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 '𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀' 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘂𝘅 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝘀!

Last week saw the return of Nick the 'Caretaker' and his good friend Matt, back here at to Les Deux Lacs. Known to us as the caretaker, as Nick always looks after the place, and feeds the stock pond for us, when we get to go away ourselves.

A very tough weeks fishing, a scene similar to many lakes within our region of France. A very hot week the week before, followed by strong winds and freezing conditions, a drop in temperature of over 20 degrees withing 24 hours switched the fish of and pretty much shut the lake down.

Perseverance and knowledge of the lake paid off, with both guys landing a few lovely fish each towards the end of the week when conditions improved.

Although catch numbers were low due to weather conditions, the fish that were caught were in prestine condition, with exceptional growth rates compared to when they were last caught or stocked into the lake, which we're delighted with.

Matt, we look forward to seeing you again next time, and Nick, see you again in only a number of weeks when your caretaking duties resume.

𝟮𝟭 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘂𝘅 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀!

Matt, Lucy, Indi, and Fin joined us for their 3rd time here, this time for Easter, and made sure they re-booked for their 4th trip next year before leaving!

A very hot April week, with daytime temperatures up to 28 degrees and not a cloud in the sky! ☀️

Matt fished his favourite 'scent from hell' yellow wafter over a bed of our pellet mix and Liver & Garlic boilies, resulting in 21 fish from 25 bites, including 2 albino grassies, and a number of fish we've not seen since stocking several years ago.

Indi and Fin spent the entire week playing outside with our own 2 children, on the playground, tyre swings, playing football, and more... giving Lucy plenty of time to relax down on the swim with Matt in peace and quiet. The perfect family fishing holiday!

Very much looking forward to seeing them all again next August!
