Les Bardeaux is at the end of a quiet little hamlet, but still close enough to enjoy local villages, towns and attractions. We are just 50 mins drive from Limoges airport. Set in gorgeous grounds it offers peace and tranquillity and a chance to recharge your batteries. Our ethos is all about enjoying nature: by the summer we hope to have constructed a natural swimming pool (currently there is an a
bove ground pool for guests) and we also offer guests the opportunity to relax in a wood-burning hot-tub. We welcome visitors bringing their dog/s and have our own gorgeous, friendly working cocker spaniel, Molly. The gite itself has broadband and freeview Sky tv. The area surrounding us is full of beautiful walks through woods and around lakes and we also offer free use of bicycles - the roads are fantastically quiet. Our local village, Abjat-sur-Bandiat is just 3 1/2 kms away and offers a bar, restaurant, boulangerie/patisserie, post office and hairdressers. The market towns of Piegut (market on Weds) and Nontron (market on Sats) are just 15-20 mins drive away. There are lots of wonderful attractions nearby, including the beautiful towns of Brantome and Bourdeilles, and the village of St Jean de Cole (listed as one of France's top ten most beautiful villages). Also four large lakes, two of which have safe, sandy man-made beaches; St Estephe Lake also has childrens' play areas, picnic areas, 'arbre fun' (netting in the trees), restaurant/bar, kiosks etc. The Grottes de Villars are local caves with stalagmites and stalactites, and the beautiful Chateau Puiguilhem is close by. Further afield, and definitely worth a visit, is Rocamadour, a cliff-top ancient village with griffin vulture circling overhead - stunning!
