Maison Halcyon Charente Maritime gite

We hear a lot of previous gite owners moan about the business and the guests and the changeovers BUT WE LOVE IT!

I don’t know if we are lucky with our guests or it’s what we supply but we meet beautiful people every year, they all go away having had a wonderful time and the reviews reflect it!

We are heading in to our 11th season next year and it’s the best job we’ve ever had, so thank you for making it possible!

We have now finished our summer season!! It doesn’t mean we are closed but it does mean that I have a LOT of washing!! 😂😂😂

There is lots of work to be done when we do close for the season, apart from the washing we need to repaint anywhere that may have had a little wear and tear through our busy time, check everything from top to bottom, check what might be missing or broken and make sure we have it ready for when we open again! Then there is the garden 😂😂!

Don’t forget we still have availability for September this year!

Fancy a little break to the Charente maritime, off peak we have a minimum of 3 nights so why not make it a long weekend! There is plenty to see, whether it’s a brocante, historical architecture, beautiful markets, beaches, rivers, it’s all here!

À Lovely stroll through Saintes back streets, a yummy lunch too! Completely underestimated the heat today and wore jeans for the first time in forever! Mistake 😂 it’s warm out there!

A little garden appreciation post this morning!

The weather has cooled, although still plenty warm for shorts and t shirts! All of our trees are surviving the heatwaves and producing their fruits! Figs, walnuts, apples, olives, grapes! I love the peaceful mornings in the garden listening the the rustling of the leaves in the woodland! 💗🇫🇷

Dates still available for September this year and diary has been open for 2027 for a while with summer dates now limited due to early booking 😊

For our fab English speaking guests! This is so exciting, a fairly new restaurant this year just 5 mins away! Recommend a trip there for sure!

🇬🇧 On holiday in France? Don’t worry, we speak English! Well… French English. 😄

At Casa Nostra, we can present you the menu in English and serve you in our very best “Franglais”, with the French accent of course! 🇫🇷😎

“So… for ze starter, we have-a…” “And for ze wine, I recommend zis one… very very good!” 🍷😂

No need to speak perfect French to enjoy good Italian food, a glass of wine and a lovely moment by the Charente. 🇮🇹☀️

What a wonderful family these guys were! They 100% made the most of their family time together here, two sisters, their husbands and all the children!
We even spent an afternoon with them at the pool which was lush 💗! We would welcome them all back in a heartbeat. Thanks for such a lovely message in the book guys / review, it means so much to us!

What a beautiful misty morning today 💗 while our current guests are packing up getting ready to leave this morning we are doing garden checks, pool, pick up fallen apples and try to get some magical photos while we can! Credit to Luke Girling for this one, catching the magic in a pic 💗🇫🇷

Morning stroll around the brocante in St Savinien under the shade of the trees! We didn’t manage to pick up any bargains but it’s nice to get out on a Sunday morning!
