🛫 Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport announced its flight schedule for the 2026 summer season on Tuesday, December 16th. The season will run from March 29th to October 24th, 2026. This new schedule follows on from the 2025 summer season, with an international offering structured around its established and growing markets. Platform dynamics.

✅ This program will also include Ryanair, which will have a strong presence on the platform in 2026.

Cette nouvelle programmation s’inscrit dans la continuité de la saison estivale 2025, avec une offre internationale structurée autour des marchés historiques et les plus dynamiques de la plateforme.

It must be December 1st. Our tree is now very neatly 6 meters tall and am not sure if we will be able to decorate it next year without hiring a cherry picker! Number of lights on the tree is approx 1500.

🧸 New Toy Alert!

What a busy week Max has had meeting new and old friends, the four legged variety and the two!
He’s been to two supper parties, played with puppy chums, tried out the big boys area in the car ( didn’t like that very much! ), and received more welcome presents 😊
The newest toy from famille is his first Kong, what fun that is, not knowing where it will jump to next!
Max also received his first party bag filled with goodies including a tug rope and a new ball, all have been played with, pounced upon, and thrown around the house 😂
I’m now starting to appreciate how mothers feel when their children sleep 😂

Having met most of the girls, Lola, Gwen, and Bella, and had such a great time with all of them 😃 Max can’t wait to meet some of the boys from the dog walking circle.

Here at Labarthe, the cranes have started their migration south to warmer climates, confirming that the colder weather is on its way 😔 We have another beautiful sunny weekend promised, probably the last of our Indian summer, so the garden is calling to bed it down before the rain appears next week. Max has already shown off his expert digging skills in the garden so has offered his services 😬

It’s been another busy summer here at Labarthe Chambre d’hôtes and gîte, and once again our guests have been delightful. It’s been a pleasure to meet new visitors to the area and welcome back those who enjoy the peace and tranquility of Labarthe 😊

Twelve weeks old today 🥳

It’s only been nine days but I think I have my human parents trained to my commands 😂
I’m growing fast and struggling to get under the sofa now, so it looks like I’ll have to share the upper deck with them, thank goodness there are two sofas!
My favorite place though is in the garden where I have my favorite spots, under chairs and in front of the well (just like “Jack” who I hear about but never met). I also like to sunbathe but mum insists I play footie with her at least once a day, apparently I’m a natural ⚽️

I’ve met Jack’s best chum Gwen, I wasn’t sure about her when she came running into the house giving the human parents a hug, but after a while I came around and we played chase around the house and in the garden, she’s cool, and I can’t wait to play with her again 🥰

We have more humans in the house next door (they call it a gîte just to confuse me), I’d heard I would need to learn to meet and greet everyone who visits Labarthe and I think I did a great job as they allowed me to express my love the way only dogs do 😉 another tick!

Today, I’ll see how far I can push the boundaries with HD ( human dad) as I have him to myself this afternoon, HM is a tougher cookie but she caves in if I look adorable and show her my puppy dog eyes!

Back to garden walking after another leg operation ( jacks fifth), I always stop and admire this monster shaped tree and in return it gives me a virtual hug 🥰 We didn’t know what it was called until social media came to the rescue yesterday, it appears it’s a Cedrus Deodara, also known as as Himalayan Ceda, Cèdre de l’Himalaya, or California Christmas Tree.
Now we know!

Bordering our garden and beyond, vines have been replaced with an almond orchard that are growing at an incredible speed, only a couple of years old and already producing a good crop of almonds this year for the owner of Château Le Grave Bechade, one of our local wine and chocolate producers.

Jack is recovering well, enjoying the sunshine and the attention of our summer guests, if only I could keep him out of his pool until the bandage is off!

The pool season has arrived with our first swimmer of the year making the most of the wonderful sunshine we have had over the last few days.
Our gîte welcomed the first 2025 guests a few weeks ago and we are now full for the summer with the exception of two weeks in July. We have the following weeks available and are offering a 20% discount on our tariff rate when booking direct:

We’ve been tourists for the day!

Recently we had a lovely French couple from the Charente Maritime stay with us, they had come down to this area to see a Rembrandt painting! “Here?” we asked, “a real Rembrandt? “
It’s true, well, not here at Labarthe but just forty minutes away in a small village called Le Mas d’Agenais you will find an original Rembrandt “Christ on the Cross” from 1631. Located in a fabulous church, the painting came to the village in 1894 by way of Xavier Dufour, a captain in the imperial army. He offered it to the parish the following year. More recently, in 2011 the painting was cleaned, then in 2021 a new display was designed for it in order to protect it. You can read more about the history here

The church itself has beautiful architecture, and the more one looks up down and around, the more one sees.
Photographs don’t really do the church or the painting justice, so if you live locally or planning a visit to the area then why not have a drive out and see something special 😊 maybe combine it with a walk down the canal, just a few steps away from the centre of the village, or a trip to Casteljaloux just ten minutes drive.
