Hi there! Do you fancy staying in a cute 1 bedroom Gite/ cottage in a stunning ancient Bastide village? It comes with a courtyard, which may be shared with the owners, who use the main house for occasional holidays.
The Gite has its own entrance, and is located a stones throw from the village square. The gate enters the courtyard, where there is a dining table, sofa and BBQs ( one gas, 1 charcoal! ) It has a new fully fitted kitchen, and a new bathroom, and WiFi
A little about the village .
Beaumont is an English bastide town founded in 1272 by Edward I of England. In common with the general plan for bastide towns it was built on the grid pattern. Beaumont is an attractive bastide town, lively and active, and not too touristy.
Beaumont is one of the largest bastides in the Perigord region. It was built with a double layer of fortified walls with initially 16 defensive stone gates through the walls. Of these only the Luzier gateway remains. The Tour de Bannes is part of the original defences of the town, and you can walk round the old ramparts to see the Porte de Luzier and the tower.
Beaumont is a wonderfully central place to stay in the Dordogne. Bergerac is only a 25 min drive away, and within 15-60 mins , there are many fabulous places to explore, including 5 other Bastide towns. The town itself can keep you very happy if you decide to not explore the area. 5 restaurants , bars, cafes, country walks, historic buildings, including the magnificent church. There is a bank, an ATM, tourist office, butchers, bakery, grocery shop, wine shop. In the surrounding area you have a wide range of restaurants, from Michelin starred to great value “ plat du jour” eateries!
July/ August and early September , there are the famous night markets in the square, with live music and a fantastic party atmosphere!
Rental rates are very reasonable, as this is our first year, so we are offering a 20% discount for all bookings in 2023.
