Today, 1st of November is a bank holiday in France called All Saints ( Toussaint ) The shops have been full of colourful chrysanthemums which people buy to take to the graves of their loved ones. They tidy the graves, spend time remembering those that are missed and leave the flowers. This day is very important to the French so everything is closed today and no one works. This tradition also means that you never give chrysanthemums as a gift as they represent death.
