Design poster Wheels and Waves Biarritz 2025
🇫🇷 Nous avons donné carte blanche au designer japonais Kiichi, (féru de motos custom et de Baudelaire), qui s’est plié à l’exercice avec enthousiasme, s’inspirant de ses impressions lors de sa première venue à Wheels and Waves Biarritz en 2024.
L’affiche, qu’il a baptisée (en toute simplicité) « Heaven’s door », invitent à pousser les portes de notre univers. Derrière elles, ornées de komainu, les créatures gardiennes du temple, Kiichi dresse un pont entre le Japon et le Pays-Basque à travers un dessin tout en volutes, où se mêlent l’élégance du graphisme japonais aux thèmes emblématiques de Wheels and Waves. Sa réinterprétation du motif de la vague, cher aux maîtres japonais, devient le symbole d’une expérience au grand air, où l’océan est le point de rencontre du surf, de la moto et du skate.
🇬🇧 We gave carte blanche to Japanese designer Kiichi (a fan of custom motorcycles and Baudelaire), who enthusiastically took up the challenge, drawing on his impressions of his first visit to Wheels and Waves Biarritz in 2024.
The poster, which he (quite simply) christened “Heaven’s door”, invites us to push open the doors to our universe. Behind them, adorned with komainu, the guardian creatures of the temple, Kiichi builds a bridge between Japan and the Basque Country through a scrolling design that blends the elegance of Japanese graphics with the emblematic themes of Wheels and Waves. His reinterpretation of the wave motif, dear to the Japanese masters, becomes the symbol of an outdoor experience, where the ocean is the meeting point of surfing, motorcycling and skateboarding.
