La Grange dans la Forêt (The Barn in the Forest) is part of a lovingly converted cattle barn, and offers a luxury one bedroom gite situated 12km outside the 13th-century bastide town of Monpazier, near the Château du Biron, and the Dordogne river. After years of searching they came across a very large earth filled barn in the forest a short drive from the village of Monpazier. Over the last 12 yea
rs they have worked to create not only a home for themselves but also a Gite to enable others to enjoy the beautiful Dordogne area. The Gite has been lovingly converted and offers a sophisticated rustic holiday home furnished to a very high standard that offers an ideal place to relax and enjoy some down time. It has a large typically French kitchen diner with range cooker and lounge with huge stone fireplace equipped with comfortable bed settee which can offer additional accommodation. The large comfortable bedroom has a king size bed and en-suite bathroom with separate shower. Both the lounge and bedroom have French doors that open on to a private walled courtyard that has a covered terrace. The courtyard is perfect for a quiet afternoon with a good book or romantic alfresco dining. An ideal place to enjoy the French sunshine! The Dordogne area offers many opportunities for sightseeing with the Bastide of Monpazier, the towns of Sarlat and Domme and the gardens of Marqueyssac to name just a few. La Capel Biron which is another local village has an activity centre and there is an inland lake at Lougratte both ideal for taking a swim. Château Biron is a photographers dream and of course we mustn’t forget canoeing down the river! Local vineyards are plentiful for sampling the local red wine of which there are too many to mention. Monpazier itself offers numerous restaurants offering everything from pizza to fine dining, has a variety of shops and has a weekly market that must not be missed. The Gite will be available to rent from July/August 2018.
