Thanks to those of you who ordered Etalon Rouge before you had tasted , purely on our recommendation.
Thanks also for the unanimous approval of this wine.
The 2015 will shortly go into barrels, and this year was an exceptional millisime, with nature playing it's part perfectly. Our oenologist Denis Dubourdieu the Proffessor of Oenology at Bordeaux University will no doubt find this a year that makes the winemaker's job easier.
This wine will be released in 2017.
2014 is all sold out and we have some 2011, 2012 and 2013 left, to last us until the relase of the 2015.
We will give preference for the 2015 to those of you who have ordered etalon Rouge before.
We are holding the special price until Jan 31st, for those of you who want to buy or top up your stocks.
Meanwhile who would have thought that the Wellington Wines ( coincidentally named La Cave) from South Africa would besuch a hit with our local French clients. It is a great tribute to the SA winemakers, incidentally the industry in SA was started by the French. Huguenots (Protestants) arrived in SA in the seventeenth century, after experiencing some difficulties with their Catholic countrymen. Wine farmers with Huguenot names like Retief, Du Toit, Labuschagne, Terreblanche and more, are still on many of the same farms eleven or more generations later.
The Pinotage , Chenin Blanc and the MCC (method Cap Classique, or method traditionelle, now that we can't say method champanoise) have been walking out to locals enjoying the differences of these superbly made wines.
The Shiraz, Cab Sav and Cape Blend are all great price / quality wines , a point not missed by the locals.
The Cave de la Citadelle has exclusivity for France on these wines, and will of course be happy to ship to you wherever you are. (As long as it is not Masachusetts)
Wishing everybody a wine filled and fueled 2016 from all of us at Villa St Simon, La Galerie Restaurant and La Cave de la Citadelle wine cave.
