Burgundy, Domaine of 13 ha with abandoned medieval castle, lake, woodlands and fields near Beaune. Full of character, this house sleeps two to three people.

We have a B & B with 4 rooms with ensuite bedrooms and 2 luxury Holiday homes. Walking, biking, wine tasting, golf, culture, Beaune, Autun, Dijon, Cluny The estate
The estate covers 13 ha The private road that leads to the secluded castle takes one through a forest and passes by our 2-hectare lake. The castle
The castle, which has not been occupied for the past 75 years, has 22 large bedrooms, an

d many other interesting features, including a chapel and a library. The oldest part dates back to 1233, and the authentic kitchen to 1359. The courtyard
The ´Maison de Gardien´ (Bed and Breakfast / Chambres d'hôtes) , the ´Maison de Maître´ (main house) and the dove cot are situated in the symetrical courtyard. The houses and the ´jardin a la francaise´ were built in the 19th century. The Orangery is being renovated and will be available as a luxury holiday home in the near future and the watermill which has become a ruin are situated at the other side of the castle. 3 rooms on the first floor of the Maison Gardinier can be reached by a private stairway. On the groundfloor we have a 4th spacious room
The breakfast room has a woodburning stove and beautiful vieuws overlooking the castle. Each room has its ensuite bathroom and toilet. 2 Rooms have enough space to add one or two extra beds. The rooms with each big windows, beautifull vieuws and have a combination of bright colours, wooden floors, high sealings, antique furniture and very important good beds. The holiday home located near the elegant main gate, overlooking the lake,
was originally the quarters of the master of the estate´s pack of hunting dogs. If you enjoy the countryside but want to be in the region of the famous Burgundy Wine areas this is the place to be

This morning the hay arrived from a field nearby.
We have been buying our hay from the same farmer for as long as we've had horses. He delivers the bales and uses heavy equipment to get it up into the hay loft, behind our bed and breakfast.

There were 60 bales in total, made in a special size so they fit through the hatch opening of the barn's hay loft.

This system has been working well:
2 tractors and 2 extra men in the loft who stack the bales neatly into place.

This should be enough hay for the coming winter for our 2 icelandic horses and our 2 draft horses.

The hay is beautiful, wonderfully fragrant and very dry, thanks to the warm weatherbwe have had.

The size of the bales is especially convenient for us.
Each bale weighs around 150 kilograms, perhaps a bit more. They can easily be transported in the back of our old orange tractor, out to the padture when needed.

In total it took about 2 hours.

Early in the morning being with the horses....
We open the gate of the lower field and we move over the temporary fence to a new part of the field other there is too much to eat.
The horses know !

They cross the new bridge and run to the new part. Today we opened up a part with a lot of burny nettles and some grass in between it, more than waist high for me. Trousers and long sleeves required

It will keep them busy.

Enjoying my very early morning ritual with the horses.
Quality time before the day really starts.
