Amazing location! Beautiful 4 bed, 3 bathroom house in the heart of Brantome, in the Perigord Vert region of the Dordogne, France. Brantome is known as the “Venice of the Perigord” as it is surrounded by the river Dronne. Although in the village, the house is extremely private at the end of a cul de sac and not overlooked. It has a private pool and a large garden with views overlooking the village and abbey. If you don’t want to use your car at all, everything you would need is walking distance. Shops, bars and restaurants from snacks to fine dining, including one Michelin star restaurant. It has one of the biggest and best markets in the region every Friday and a smaller one on a Tuesday. It’s a very pretty village which makes walking in for your daily croissant and coffee an absolute pleasure.
The garden is very pretty with lots of secluded shady spots if you want to avoid the sun. There are two terraces which get the sun at different times so again, suited for either choosing or avoiding the heat!
If you do want to go on day trips then you will be spoilt for choice from caves just a 5 min drive, the beautiful old towns of Perigueux (20 mins) or Angouleme (45 mins), wine tasting in Bergerac or St Emilion (1 hour, 15 mins away), as well as Sarlat and the castles of Beynac and Castlenaud around 1 hour, 30 mins away.
There are walks of varying distances direct from the house. You can hire bikes from the village and also hire canoes (1 min walk!).
The closest airports are: Limoges (53 miles), Bergerac (46 miles), Bordeaux (95 miles). If travelling by TGV train, Angouleme is only 36 miles away.
