Work on the new Chez Forde - Carcassonne apartment in France - is surging forward at a pace. Malcolm & I visited Carcassonne together for 2 weeks at the start of September with the main aim to remove the rotting wooden deck on the patio, and replace a hotch porch group of wooden mismatched ancient cupboards in the kitchen with an IKEA bright shiny white cupboard. I left on September 18 & returned home for Grandparent Day and the deck was gone & the cupboard was essentially installed. Malcolm has stayed on & he has attached the cupboard to the wall & installed the benchtop.
Malcolm then decided he would install our preferred Lino in the Entrance Hall where there were 5 different styles of tiles & one set of tiles being substantially chipped & cracked. With almost zero French language he has installed a coat of self levelling cement (which a tradesman fell over on when he arrived to do another job that we expected to be done 6 months ago). He hopes to collect & install the Lino early next week.
The long awaited work replacing a window overlooking a light well is now done, and we are getting a quote for the first part of painting the entrance hall & the next level landing with the stairs in between. We think it will be much brighter & fresh looking.
Our lovely neighbours, Damien & Laurene, who are doing major renovations in their apartment, are also improving our shared ground floor Entrance foyer, and it will look fabulous
