One of the most fascinating things about our home is that it’s essentially two chateaus stacked on top of another—there’s the original 12th century fortress (the lower two levels) and the “newer” 18th century section (the upper two levels) with hints of its long history throughout.
Though the upper levels get all the attention and the reason why it’s a historic monument, the lower levels are equally interesting with the grand cave, cellars, unique architectural elements and, of course, the famous underground reservoir. One day we hope to restore to their original state and bring the entire chateau truly back to life.
