On the route of the Santiago Compostela and nestling on the banks of the river Orb - Cessenon sur Orb is one of the oldest wine producing villages in the Languedoc region of the south of France and boasting over 3,000 years of history. Our ancient, three storey village house was originally part of one of the several operational olive mills in Cessenon sur Orb. Open all year round, we can offer you
the choice of two charming bedrooms, each with King sized beds, high quality linen and individual 3 and 4 piece spacious and modern ensuites plus tea & coffee making facilities and a fridge in the ground floor room. Free parking is available all year round. We have secure storage for bicycles and motorbikes. Wifi available. Being perfectly situated - just take a walk out the main door, turn left and within a minute and you'll find yourself in the main square, with it's historic church, along with bars, restaurants, a pharmacy, boulangeries, two banks (one with a cash machine) two hairstylists, Tourist Office, general store and two real estate agencies - ideal for househunters or those just passing through. A further three minute walk and you'll have access to the excellent newly refurbished and airconditioned Carrefour mini supermarket that will cater for all your daily needs. Turn right from the front door, and thirty seconds later you'll be at the end of the quaintly narrow street where an ancient well (Fontaine Sucree) provides constant, calcium rich, beautifully refreshing water. Keep going for less than a minute and you'll arrive at the wrought iron suspension bridge which spans the stunning River Orb. Have a swim in the crystal clear mountain water and then sit and enjoy a picnic, whilst watching the world float by, including the canoeists and kayakers on their leisurely river descent! We are located in the world famous AOC St Chinian wine growing region and in less than ten minutes you can be in the heart of the breathtaking Black Mountains Regional park, driving through ancient villages as they nestle into the rocks overlooking the deep gorges and their river beds. Stop along the way and enjoy a leisurely lunch, snack or drink at a restaurant or shaded village cafe. There are so many activities and sights to see here, it is truly difficult to list them all, but these include; kayaking & canoeing, cycling, walking, donkey treks, vineyard tours, grottos, markets, canal boat trips, and so much more - all within a forty minute drive from Cessenon. The local bars and restaurants provide great musical entertainment during summer evenings and village fetes are regular events. We are only thirty minutes drive from Beziers, forty minutes from Narbonne, an hour from both Carcassonne and Montpellier and not forgetting the beautiful Mediterranean beaches just a short drive to the south. Come and enjoy a stay in this delightful and stunning region of the Herault with Chris and Susan, your friendly and welcoming hosts. We are a Kiwi/English couple who have been living in France for a few years and had the crazy idea of renovating this very old village house and making it into what you see. We love this area and are constantly, and pleasantly surprised by the beauty and diversity of this stunning place.
