Well a belated Happy 2026. What a winter so far. Freezing cold, Snow, Sun, coffee outside in November and December. Lots of rain and wind. Thank you to our Guests of last year for your lovely reviews. We won a Travellers review award from Booking.com. of 9.2 We hope to see some of our previous guests again soon. We open for the season on April 3rd.

Ancient French Country Holiday Cottage, Les Fragnons, located 3.8km from the town of Châteaumeillant, renovated to a delightful rural retreat for two people and a paradise for nature lovers. The birds dawn chorus is wonderful.

We are set in an area suitable for many great outdoor activities including walking, horse riding, fishing, golf, chateaux, sight seeing - ideally situated 25mins from La Chatre with shops and restaurants and Saint Amond Montron, train station, shops, etc, 45mins from Bourges and 2hr from Paris. Chateaux to view, Gardens, Largest Zoo in France.

Deer visit our fields regularly, and last year we had a Mum with triplets.

This charming property has a lovely garden with views of surrounding countryside. There is a large patio area for outdoor eating, the cottage has a bedroom with four poster bed and on-suite shower, living room, a flat-screen TV, sofa and chairs etc, dining table, the kitchen is fully equipped for self catering with a washing machine, refrigerator and a cooker, toaster, microwave, kettle etc.

A welcome pack, towels and bed linen are provided and a barbecue is available for your use.

The cottage is fully fitted for self catering, although there are restaurants 10 mins and 25mins away. The local Intermarche and fuel station are 10mins away. Set in the heart of the French countryside with lovely views all around with no near neighbours, it offers great opportunities for walking and there is plenty of wildlife to admire.

There are Chateaux, museums and gardens to visit as well as a bit further away Zoos, water parks etc.

You do need a car.

George Sands the writers house is a local attraction. There is a local lake with sandy beach and activities. The dawn chorus is amazing. The other nearby villages are small, but the town Chateaumeillant has facilities including doctors, clinic, and a Chateaux and museums and is only 10 mins away.

Started slowly but quite busy with cottage in July and August.
Strange year weather wise, very dry then lots of rain and then very hot. Going to be planting more bulbs, give a nice spring show. Cottage closed from October to April, although we are available to people wanting somewhere to stay whilst house hunting.
