Bastide Des Launes

After 22 years of ownership and 18 years of welcoming guests to La Bastide des Launes we have now sold the property and we are retiring! Completion is likely to be later this month. We will still live in Chamaret but in our small house in the village. A warm thank you to all our guests over the years.

Grignan is hosting a number of Ukrainian families and some of them put on a concert to raise money for Ukraine. In the midst of what feels like the usual busy season with plays and music everywhere it was a sobering reminder that not all of us are so lucky as to live in a peaceful (relatively) country.

We went to the pharmacy to collect our regular medications and saw this charming card to our pharmacists, who throughout the pandemic, tested us, advised us and vaccinated us.

We visited the new museum of modern art in Arles on a stormy day. You are encouraged to actually use one of the exhibits, the silver slide. Sadly the viewing platform on level nine is not yet open. An extraordinary building.

The village fete was different this year, as we are all continuing to be careful. The traditional dance "the farandole" was more elaborate and the New Orleans jazz band was excellent. Enjoyed by all.

This is The Interloper. Hobo still comes around but now he has a rival who is a bit braver than Hobo. Occasionally the local cats show up for a party there were four in the garden the other day.
