Opening time! Lot's to do after a a funny old fee years of Brexit and COVID. Work underway and always love being out here! Few early ticks - onto Fibre to the Cab broadband, brilliant to see the village bar/restaurant open under new owner Franc and we've managed to get a range cooker and 5 extra bikes out safely!!!

Phew!! With the travel restrictions lifted in this strange year, we have completed a 5 day dash to prepare the best we possibly can for our first guest arrivals! Despite a short time frame and mower, pump, electrical and pressure washer failures, with long days and a bit of elbow grease we have done it and we are excited to welcome guests once again for much needed holidays at this time! : )

We've realised that staying at La Vieille Ferme works whatever the size of the group. Take our recent guests; one exclusive booking of 21 guests (Anita and family & friends) followed by four individual families last week. Two relaxed couples pictured, sans kids - couldn't get them out of the pool! Everyone loves the chilled environment with plenty of outside space, it's hard to tear yourself away!

For a good morning or afternoon trip out we can recommend Montresor. It's only half an hour away from us and is very picturesque. Nice river walk taking in views of the church and chateau. Two creperies, one restaurant and one Salon de the. Something for everyone!

If châteaux are your thing then a great day out awaits at Valencay. It's around 40 minutes from us and is a great example of Renaissance architecture - a handsome building with some lovely gardens and a maze. Lunch can be had in the orangery, or there are recommended eateries in town. For tea and yummy cakes head for Castle Praline, a stone's throw away.

If you fancy a short bike ride, head to our next village, Obterre, where there's a local bar, great for cooling down. There's also a small shop, even open Sunday til 11pm! Terrain is flat and the roads are empty, perfect cycling conditions. We have 8 bikes here for guests to explore the surrounding countryside. Always good to earn a beer! 😁

Wheat harvesting time, so what do you do? Jump on the combine! At least he's got air-con😂 And we got sunflowers from the farmer too, nice man that he is.
