With parts dating back to the 1780’s, Le Coin Caché was part of the original fermette (farmhouse) for the area, which also included the windmill on the hill overlooking the farmhouse. Over time, the windmill fell into disrepair & was finally gifted to the commune. It was renovated in 1933 and an 8m cross and statue of Christ was erected on it, being named “The Calvaire du Peu”, and as such is well
known as being part of the route of the Pilgrimage of Santiago De Compostela, which starts in Northern France going all the way to Spain. Facilities include-

Located on a popular rambling/cycling path behind the gite is the old water mill, which hosts a “Féte Du Pain” (Bread festival) each year during May, where you are invited to visit and make your own bread on site. We are approximately 1.2kms from the centre of the small village of Clessé which has a Church, Mairies office, post office, boulangerie and a small bar/tabac. The larger village of La Chapelle Saint Laurent is approx 8kms away, where there is a general supermarket, boulangerie/patisserie, petrol station and a bar/tabac, however larger retail and commerce outlets can be found in the towns of Parthenay and Bressuire (approx 14 kms away). (Although we are situated rurally, we have 2 neighbours who are also full time residents, and would request noise levels to be kept to a respectable level)
