Le Tilleuil est la moitié d'une ferme du 18ème siècle avec sa propre terrasse et parking et situé dans un grand jardin dans le hameau des Monneries. Il y a une piscine avec terrasse où vous pourrez vous détendre, lire ou regarder le soleil se coucher. Nous sommes au cœur d'une belle campagne boisée avec de doux coteaux vallonnés en bordure du Périgord Vert. C'est une zone rurale paisible avec des

rivières et des lacs pour le canoë, la navigation de plaisance et la pêche. Visitez les marchés hebdomadaires des villes et villages voisins où vous pourrez vous promener et acheter des produits frais et des spécialités locales, puis vous reposer dans un bar ou un café pour vous asseoir et regarder le monde passer. Pour les marcheurs, il y a de nombreuses ruelles tranquilles, un arboretum à proximité et des bois avec des pistes. Les offices de tourisme locaux ont des cartes des nombreuses promenades et randonnées signées à travers la belle campagne et c'est également idéal pour le cyclisme.

Our Story

Le Tilleuil is one half of an 18th century farmhouse with its own terrace and parking and set in a large garden in the hamlet of Les Monneries. There is a pool with decking where you can relax, read or watch the sun go down. We are in the heart of beautiful forested countryside with gentle rolling hillsides on the edge of the Perigord Vert. It is a peaceful rural area with rivers and lakes for canoeing, boating and fishing. There are weekly markets in nearby towns and villages where you can meander and buy fresh produce and local specialities and then rest in a bar or café to sit and watch the world go by. For walkers, there are numerous quiet lanes, a nearby arboretum and woodlands with tracks. The local tourist offices have maps of the many signed walks and rambles through the lovely countryside and we keep a few at the house along with bikes for guests to make use of.

We came to Charente house-hunting in 2002 and Le Tilleuil was the first house we viewed. We looked at North Charente but came back to our area on the Dordogne border and chose Le Tilleuil because of the views over the valley. We made the decision in 2005 to come and live here permanently and after three years hard work the gite was open for business.

We hope you will love it here as much as we do. Over the coming weeks I will be posting photos and stories of what life is like here and what you can see and do while you are on holiday.
