Karma Refuge Appeal Update 🇺🇦

With Winter approaching, we thought it a timely moment to share an update on our own modest efforts to support those affected. Here is the latest from our Head of Philanthropy, Victoria Williamson:

“We have 13 families staying with us in Normandy at the moment – some with six or eight people together. This has been a particularly challenging and emotional time for everyone, due to the sad reality that the war is continuing and returning home does not look like it can happen anytime soon.
The French government will provide social housing from the beginning of October, but these accommodations will only come with beds, a fridge, a washing machine and very little else."

Karma Refuge X Adidas 10k Run in Paris

A passion for philanthropy clearly runs in the Spence family, as Karma Group Chairman John Spence’s daughter Amelia recently signed up to take part in the Adidas 10k Run; taking place in Paris on the 5th of June - all to benefit those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine through the Karma Refuge initiative.

An update on 🇺🇦

Karma Group’s Founder and Chairman took the time to visit our Karma Refuge shelter in Normandy. Mr Spence said “It’s humbling to spend time with our Ukrainian guests. Thank you to all members of staff for making this work and many, many thanks to everyone who has contributed. The Lambrook toy collection [from Mr Spence's son's school] was very well received! And in true Normandy style, Camembert has become a staple diet!”

It’s wonderful to see the guests still managing to put a smile on their faces, with all that’s happening with their family, friends and home country.

Karma Refuge: Shelter for Ukraine Refugees

More than two million people have been displaced in just two weeks as the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine continues to worsen!

Karma Group launched our Karma Refuge programme in France on 8th March, turning Karma Residence Normande into a temporary shelter for those most in need, with the first arrivals at the resort on 11th March.

KARMA REFUGE: Emergency appeal for the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine 🇺🇦

Karma Group Founder John Spence, like the rest of the world, is appalled by the terror that has unfolded in Ukraine and is proud to take action by launching a new Karma initiative - Karma Refuge!

In an effort to help we are turning our Normandy (France) resort into a shelter for Ukrainian refugees, for the coming months.

As well as providing accommodation we will give our guests food and provide activities, especially for the children, and French and English classes for all.

We are also establishing short term hotel accommodation in Warsaw, with coach transportation to our Normandy hotel.

We kindly encourage you to spare any monies you have to donate towards our refugee campaign - No amount is too little!
