The Rose Granite coast is about a 2 hour drive from Coet Moru Gîtes in the Côtes d'Armor region, but it's well worth the trip. Beautiful beaches, amazing lagoons and pink granite rocks that take on a rosy glow as the sun sets. Stunning!

As the holiday season begins to slow down I thought I'd share some of my favourite summer photos taken around the gîtes.

The Valley of the Saints is a fantastic, free, open-air exhibition of hundreds of statues of saints associated with Brittany. Many of them originated from Celtic places such as Wales , Ireland or Cornwall and some met bizarre or grizzly ends, as depicted by their statues. You can actually see the sculptors at work on their latest creations. About 1h20 mins from the Gîtes and well worth the drive.

We don't often have snow in Brittany due to it's mild climate, so I wanted to share these beautiful images from the Forest of Broceliande, which is steeped in the legend of King Arthur. The forest is a magical place to explore and is just 30 minutes drive from Coet Moru Gîtes.

Just popped over the border into Normandie to visit Bayeux to see the famous 70 metre long Tapestry. It's over 1000 years old and still looks amazing! Then we visited the beautiful Mont St Michel, a medieval monastery built upon an island. It's possible to walk out to the island at low tide, or take a free shuttle bus. This holy place of pilgrimage used to belong to Brittany, but following a departmental re-shuffle, it was swallowed up by the Normans, causing more than a little gallic shrug from the Bretons.

We're rather spoilt for choice for beautiful beaches in Morbihan (which means little sea in Breton) but today we slipped across the border to Pont Aven in Finistere (which means the end of the world, as it's the most westerly point of France) Pont Aven is a fascinating village which was the base of the famous French artist Paul Gauguin and still attracts many artists today. The Aven river bisects the village as it becomes an estuary and finally wends it's way out to the Atlantic. The nearby beach Tahiti Plage is stunning with soft white sands. It may be so named after Gaugin's range of Polynesian paintings where he loved the place so much he stayed for 10 years.
