La Roseraie - Our Dream

Wow it's been busy!!! 😁 A full and happy week here at La Roseraie.
I'm receiving lots of house-cleaning work for my business, and the feedback is fab! 😊 🎉 And also I've booked in my first regular client too!!! Eeeee!!
Preparation for my sister's wedding is underway, I did have a moment where I realised I wouldn't be able to get my dress altered in time... but no worries I found some death-defying high heels in the back of the wardrobe and the dress fits perfectly now. Hopefully I survive the day! 😂
We celebrated a lovely friend's birthday, (which I of course wanted to make a cake for), made costumes for said party, and somehow fitted it all in around the constant barrage of May bank holidays and boys being home 😂
It's been busy, but in a good way.

I'm very pleased to be finishing the week with a completely chilled Sunday - roast lunch (thank you Dave) beautiful walk with the family magically missing the rain showers, and now complete vegging out. 💕

I absolutely love this!!
A beautiful potted rose I had a few years ago unfortunately died after I neglected to protect it in winter... And then a year later mysteriously reappeared on the other side of our property, on the outside of our hedge!

This happens to be behind the composting area, so I suspect the autumn pruning of dead flowers and hips actually had a few viable seeds in.

It's gone from strength to strength, and I've spotted another plant further along in the hedge.
It kinda feels like our land wants to be full of roses! 😍 Which I would just absolutely love! 🌹 🥰

I really wasn't sure when I signed up to help with a Lego exhibition. Lots of kids, and a few adults brought their builds in for display, and set up games and challenges for some half-term fun. Something the boys were very enthusiastic about, so I thought it'd be good for them to get involved. I was asked to make the crêpes and waffles... And volunteered to be there for two afternoons.
I'd never made crêpes or waffles before.. so was slightly stressed about making them for public consumption!! 😂
Anyone that knows me, knows slightly stressed is a snappy neurotic version of Rosie. 😂
Dave bought me a crêperie, which I tried practising with on the morning of the expo, and it was a disaster! I couldn't pour or spread the batter quickly enough, and they were not thin enough to be crêpes!!
I realised my plan for serving freshly cooked crêpes wasn't going to work, so with just an hour to go, frantically pre-cooked them in a pan. I really didn't think they'd pass muster... But as it turned out, warmed up on the crêperie at the expo, they went down a storm. 😁

Very pleased I got out of my comfort zone, and was pleasantly surprised by my ability to have conversations in french with attendees too.
It was a really lovely thing to do as a family, and has felt really good feeling part of the community.

Busy, busy week but managed to squeeze in a bit of gardening this afternoon. 😁
Love this beautiful place, and the sunshine!! ☀️ Everything is green and glorious in the spring sunshine. 😁

Wish season!!! 😁

Absolutely beautiful this time of year! I love the nostalgic fun of picking dandelions. Closing your eyes, bringing a wish or a prayer into mind, filling your lungs and blowing those seeds into the air. 😁 ☀️

I imagine all those seeds rooting and growing more wish trees! 💕

Progress with the golf. First time replacing an engine - fun project for David Cutts and Ben McCardle. Legends!!! 😁

Ah yes! Spring sunshine here, always astounds me how warm it is compared to UK sun. And it's working its magic after a few weeks of illness and fatigue. 😁

We've just come out of our most financially secure winter so far since closing the glamping site, so we're a lot more hopeful of being even more stable this year, and finally start moving a bit faster on improving our beautiful place.

It the right time for me to start earning again. I’ve just opened my own small business offering housekeeping, cooking and personal care — work I was already doing in my last job, but (hopefully!) now with hours that work better for our family.
It’s a little nerve-racking putting myself out there, especially in French, but I’m excited too. I really do love making things feel good for people — through food, care, or just getting the everyday things done that make life easier. 😊

I’ve already had a couple of enquiries, which feels really encouraging, especially as I haven’t properly pushed it yet… so 🤞 Next step is flyers and getting the word out a bit more. Eek!

We’ve also finally made some progress with our constantly breaking cars 🙈 After months of borrowed vehicles (still blown away by the generosity of our friends here), we’ve managed to get the Golf sorted with a new engine and invest in a more reliable family car.

Hoping for slightly less stressful — and more enjoyable — journeys ahead.
