Busy starting to get things s***k and span ready for the start of the season. So lots of painting. Main gates back to gloss black this year instead of matt. Rear gate has changed from matt green to matt black. My hands and nails also a shade of black even though I wore gloves!!!! 😂😂😂

Storm Nils has hit Le Bois de Penaud! Winds of 95km per hour. Lost electrical power and the mobile phone signal last night at 11pm. Still not reconnected. This pool light smashed and the really big tall tree in the middle wood has fallen down and flattened the fence into the far paddock. But all will be sorted before we open!! My handyman aka Jerry is on the case!

We had our power and phone service restored yesterday. Very relieved. You don’t realise how much we rely on these nowadays. But many friends further south are still without power. Fingers crossed they are reconnected soon. Huge amounts of damage and flooding in southern France. We were very lucky and are grateful for that.

It’s with great sadness that we have to tell you that you will not be seeing Gabrielle and Indiana on your next visit. They both left us together, as they have been for the last 17 years, on Monday 5th January. Indiana had developed a carcinoma in his bad eye. Gabrielle’s foot problems were such that even with sedation, she was finding the farrier’s visits a very painful and stressful experience. Indiana was 32 years old and Gabrielle 31. They are now galloping without pain in lush green fields. 🐎🐎🥲🥲💕

Beautiful sunset in Bergerac.

Dear friends of Le Bois de Penaud. Our beautiful dog Salsa crossed over the rainbow bridge last Thursday night. Lots of hugs and kisses given as he went on his last journey. Vet and vet nurse so gentle with him. He’s in doggy heaven now. 😢😢Xx
