We are located on the north-westerly side of the Lot départment (46) just 20 minutes south of the Dordogne river. Highly acclaimed chambres d'hôtes situated within the Lot department of south-west France. an 18th century stone-built house with 4 individually designed and tastefully-decorated bedrooms, set within 7 acres of woods and gardens overlooking a beautiful private valley. Superb breakfasts

and evening meals served to a very high standard by the owners Clare & Mark Newton, past restaurateurs from England with past awards from many guides.

Feeling delighted and somewhat shocked to have received a Best of the Best award for a third year. Achieving position #13 - chef’s lucky number !

Having been in Travellers’ Choice since 2013 we now feel a little like a pair of old timers with so many ‘new kids’ on the block ! Maybe age has it’s benefits !

Our region here in France is based on limestone bedrock lying beneath the soil. This makes for a perfect growing habitat for around 50 varieties of orchid which are said to grow in the Lot department making a nature lovers paradise !

Un grand merci à tous nos clients passés et présents qui ont pris le temps d’écrire des commentaires. Nous sommes ravis d’annoncer que nous avons remporté notre deuxième prix ‘Best of the Best’ de TripAdvisor !

It all began with ‘CruiseyDoodle’ back in July 2010, who introduced our ‘non-social media selves’ to TripAdvisor!
Since 2013 we have won Travellers’ Choice awards consecutively. Twelve years further on, we have won our second Best of the Best award putting us in the top 1% of France and the world ! 🤭
None of this would have been possible without all our past and present guests who have taken the time to kindly write reviews.
So an absolutely massive thank you to everyone involved-especially in the last couple of pandemic years when travel has been so complicated.

Highly acclaimed chambres d'hôtes situated within the Lot department of south-west France. An 18th century stone-built house with 4 individually designed and tastefully-decorated bedrooms, set within 7 acres of woods and gardens overlooking a beautiful private valley. Superb breakfasts and evening meals served to a very high standard by the owners Clare & Mark Newton, past restaurateurs from England who achieved various awards for their food and accommodation from many guides When in the U.K.

During their past 10 years in France, La Métairie des Songes chambres d’hôtes has achieved consistently excellent remarks from TripAdvisor reviewers and has featured within the highly prized category of “The Top 25 Best Chambres d’Hôtes in France” for the past 5 years. This award is given to just 1% of the entirety of bed and breakfast establishments in France (from out of potentially 17 000 existing businesses).

Each year new inspirations and ideas are injected into their rooms and food. Perhaps a bedroom is updated with new decoration or a functional addition. This year, warm savouries where added to the continental breakfast as well as several other new dishes that joined the highly popular dinner repertoire. The recently introduced wine list to accompany the evening meals has proven highly successful, showcasing wines from their local wine-producing region of Cahors as well as selecting some of the best bottles from neighbouring Bordeaux. The prices are generously affordable in keeping with the fantastic value of a gourmet dinner at just €34 per person. The combination of these 2 elements - exceptional food served and cooked to a precision standard from past restaurateurs plus a personally stocked wine menu, make La Métairie des Songes quite unique.
