Idéalement situé dans le Pays de la Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel, à proximité des côtes normandes et bretonnes, le Château du Logis d’Isigny se dévoile au bout d'un chemin bordé de vieux chênes, entouré de thuyas, peupliers et tilleuls.
Depuis les temps anciens, cette demeure a certainement beaucoup changé. On ne sait rien sur la date de la première construction. On ne possède, pour le XVIe et le XVIIe siècles, que des descriptions très allusives:
Au XVIIe: "C'est un château d'ancienne construction, avec murailles, pont-levis, étangs."
L’histoire du château d'Isigny commence au XIIIe siècle. Le Château était probablement fortifié, mais cela ne l'a pas épargné de la destruction durant la guerre de Cent Ans. Le Logis principal, tel que nous pouvons l'admirer aujourd'hui a été restauré à partir d'une aile du Château ancien, par les anciens propriétaires en 1749.
L'immeuble actuel date seulement du début XIXe. Mais la construction nouvelle garde deux détails anciens que l'on ne peut voir de la route. Le pignon sud est, caractérisé par des pilastres plats surmontés de chapiteaux ioniques, sculptés dans le granit, qui encadrent chaque fenêtre.
Aujourd'hui des vestiges subsistent: une tourelle, reste de l'ancienne enceinte ; deux meurtrières tournantes (similaires à celles que l'on peut admirer sur le Mont-Saint-Michel) dans les communs, l'une mobile dans tous les sens et l'autre qui tourne horizontalement ; le tracé des douves, les étangs maintenant asséchés ; le mur de l'ouest ; la haute cheminée ; la base du mur du nord ; le pignon sud avec des pilastres plats surmontés de chapiteaux ioniques sculptés dans le granit et qui encadrent chaque fenêtre.
Cette demeure familiale est en cours de restauration. Elle offre à ses hôtes de passage le charme authentique de 2 suites spacieuses et confortables.
C'est un lieu propice à un séjour de détente et à la découverte de la Normandie et de ses plus beaux bourgs, dénicher les petits villages et découvrir les villes de Granville et son Musée Christian Dior ou Avranches face à la baie du Mont-Saint-Michel. Ou, point de départ idéal pour rayonner vers la côte des Iles anglo-normandes comme la magnifique île de Jersey, vers la côte du Bessin avec ses grandes plages et ses hautes falaises abruptes ou vers la côte d'Emeraude en Bretagne et voir Dinan, Dinard, Cancale et Saint-Malo.

An der Bucht des Mont Saint Michel liegt das familiengeführte Château ideal in Küstennähe inmitten von Thuja-Koniferen, Pappeln und Mammutbäumen. Schon bei der Anfahrt durch die Eichen-Allee spüren Sie die Geschichte des historischen Gebäudes und die Faszination der Landschaft.
Wie alt das Château wirklich ist, lässt sich nur schwer nachvollziehen, da alle Aufzeichnungen durch mehrere Kriege vernichtet wurden, doch erstmals öffentlich erwähnt wurde das ursprüngliche Gemäuer mit Wassergräben und Zugbrücken im 16. Jahrhundert.
Aus dieser Zeit sind zwei rotierende Schießscharten, der Umriß des Wassergraben sowie des ausgetrockneten Teiches und die Westmauer erhalten.
Auch der der riesige Kamin, einige Giebelfenster, umrahmt von Flachrelief-Pilaster, und die in Granit gemeißelten ionische Kapitelle haben die Jahrhunderte überstanden.
Florence und Jean-François Biellmann haben bei der Modernisierung und Restauration des Châteaus darauf geachtet, den ursprünglichen Charme der Jahrhunderte zu bewahren.

The Logis d’Isigny castle is ideally situated : In the heart of the Mont Saint Michel Bay Protected Area, near the coastlines of Normandy and Brittany. The mansion only unveils itself once you’ve made your way down a path bordered by old oaks. It’s surrounded by Thuja conifers, lime and poplar trees, sophoras, giant redwoods and sequoias.
Of course this Château has changed a lot since the olden days. There’s no record of the date of the first building. There’s only a brief allusion made in the 16th century to “an old construction with high walls, a drawbridge and a moat.”
Some elements remain to this day: Two rotating arrow slits (similar to those that can be admired in the Mont Saint Michel) in the former outbuildings; one which moves in all directions and another which rotates horizontally, the outline of the moat, the ponds(now dried up), the western wall, the tall fireplace, the base of the northern wall, the south gable decorated with low-relief pilasters framing each window, topped with ionic capitals sculpted in granite stone.
This family home is being restored. It will soon offer passing guests the dual authentic and contemporary charm of 5 spacious and comfortable suites.
It’s a lovely place to stay for a few days and combine relaxation with the discovery of Normandy; to seek out small towns and quaint little villages. You’ll discover attractive towns such as Granville and its « Christian Dior Museum » or Avranches with its stunning view of the Mont Saint Michel Bay. It’s also ideal as a starting point to explore the coastline, the Channel Islands including the wonderful island of Jersey, the Bessin coastline with its vast beaches and its high cliffs. You can also head for the Emerald Coast in Brittany to see Dinan, Dinard, Cancale and Saint Malo.
