It's International Dog Day today so Morgan and Alfie asked to be shared on the page today 😀:

Morgan: a bit of an unknown dog. Age unknown but probably around 11 or 12. Breed/heritage unknown but possibly Boxer x Labrador. He was rescued off the streets of a town in northern Spain near the coast which probably explains his love of fish but despite being a street dog anything outside of his normal diet give him the most appalling wind, even his beloved fish. Also loves blackberries.

Alfie: another rescue this time from Romania via the Association Friends of Paws'n'claws - Pattes et griffes. He is 4 years old and is probably descended from a Romanian Mioritic Shepherd Dog. Loves long walks especially when his friends Roc and Vala (pictured) join him for a play date. Has long legs but thinks he is a lap dog which results in much "ouching" from whichever poor soul he tried to sit on.

The temperature has finally dropped to something way more normal for August but looking around outside it seems that Autumn is arriving early this year - the leaves are already turning and the hedgerows are full of gorgeous blackberries (I have no idea how they have managed to be so juicy with so little rain) as well as other fruits and nuts.

If you love this time of year as much as I do then why not book yourself a break here at Eco-Gites of Lenault this September and enjoy this gorgeous season in Normandy.

Apparently it's (Aug 8th) and the Eco-Gites of Lénault cats asked to be featured today 😁. So here goes:

Fumée: 16 years old, fiercely loyal but only really lets Rosie stroke her. Hates the heat but even more than that she hates:
Moo: Turned up out of the blue 10 years ago as a starving kitten. Very much Rosie's cat. Hates children but loves giving kisses to any adult.
Polly: given to us by a friend who returned to England. Not overly keen on Moo (there's a pattern here with our cats) and tolerates humans only because she knows they feed her.
Shadow: a wild cat who pops in for feeds and to hiss at us before running away. Quite likes Fumée but hates having his photo taken 🤣

Fumée, Moo and Polly are all excellent hunters and help keep the rodent population at bay, where-as Shadow prefers getting fed at all the houses around here. None of the cats are overly keen to get to know gite guest (sorry).

September at Eco-Gites of Lénault

💚🍄 🍂🍁September is a fabulous month in Normandy: Wake up to mist hanging in the valleys, admire trees donning their autumn finery and spot mushrooms springing from the damp earth. Enjoy walks through the gradually changing landscape, pick blackberries from the hedgerows and delight in a quieter time of year.

We usually get beautifully warm days so you can enjoy lunch in the garden with some of Normandy's delicious cheeses🥖🧈🥂 .. but with a slight chill in the evening air there's no excuse not to light the woodburner and snuggle up for a relaxing night in 🔥📖🍷.

Brilliant news for Normandy: The D-day Beaches have now been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site ensuring the importance of the 5 Beaches and the memory of the soldiers who landed there will never be forgotten.

The D-Day Beaches join the previously listed sites of Mont-Saint-Michel and its Bay, and Le Havre, the city rebuilt by Auguste Perret after WWII.

Lace made in the Normandy city of Alençon and The Granville Carnival, that takes place every February, are both also on UNESCO's list for Intangible Cultural Heritage.
