De afgelopen weken zijn we druk bezig geweest met de bijgebouwen. Deze waren flink overgenomen door de natuur 🌿.
We hebben bramen en klimop verwijderd, dakgoten en regenpijpen schoongemaakt, dakpannen weer op hun plek gelegd en de muren een goede schoonmaakbeurt gegeven.
Wat een verschil!

Dear followers,
First of all, we would like to sincerely thank Adam for entrusting this page to us. Thank you for everything you have done for the castle.
We would like to introduce ourselves. We are Edo, Sietske, and Marja, and we are proud to be the new owners of this beautiful castle. Edo and Sietske will be living in the castle, where they will lovingly run a chambre d’hôtes. Marja, Sietske’s mother, will be living in the annex, and together we are beginning a new chapter here.
Although we are Dutch, we have spent the past 16 years living in the Czech Republic, where we ran a hotel, campsite, and horse riding stable.
This castle is now our new and very special project, one we are excited to bring to life.
Over the coming months, we will be busy cleaning, renovating, and preparing everything for what lies ahead. If all goes according to plan, we hope to welcome our first guests as early as this summer.
We very much look forward to sharing our adventures and progress with you. Thank you for following us, and see you soon!

As Tuesday 09 December approaches, it’s time for me to say a final goodbye to Château d’Escurat as the new owners step forward as its next custodians. It’s a strange mix of emotions, but one I’m meeting with both pride and peace.

When I first arrived here in December 2019, I had no idea just how deeply this place would shape my life. There has been laughter, there have been tears, and there has been an immense amount of hard graft. Yet every moment brought its own satisfaction, and I’m proud of what Dave and I achieved together 🧡. This château was our shared dream — a dream built with love, determination, and no small amount of courage. Life, as it often does, has changed the path ahead, and it’s time for that chapter to close.

I take great comfort in knowing the new owners adore this beautiful building just as much as Dave and I did. That brings me real joy. I’ve had the privilege of meeting wonderful guests and making friendships I’ll carry with me always. Being a custodian of Château d’Escurat has been an honour I will never forget.

Today, it’s an emotional farewell… but also a hopeful one. The château is passing into loving hands, and that’s exactly how it should be.

Here’s to new beginnings — for all of us.
