L’hôtel a été reconstruit après la guerre par Auguste Perret.
Dans le cahier des charges donné par le ministère de la reconstruction, Auguste Perret devait reconstruire un hôtel puisqu’il existé avant le bombardement de 1945.
Auguste Perret et son équipe ont donc construit l’hôtel Le Celtic, de 13 chambres avec cabinet de toilettes (WC et lavabo) et une salle de bain commune, une salle de détente, une chambre d’employé, un bar et une réception.
Contrairement à tous les appartements qu’ils ont conçus le confort été spartiate puisqu’il y avait une seule salle de bain commune pour 13 chambres.
Lors de la rénovation en 2010 l’architecte Vincent Duteurtre, le même qui a œuvré pour classer la ville du Havre au patrimoine mondiale, tout a été fait pour garder l’esprit crée par Auguste Perret.
La qualité des rénovations fut saluée par la ville du Havre (en autre) et depuis l’hôtel est inscrit aux visites des monuments de la journée du patrimoine.
Le nom de l’hôtel fut changé à ce moment en référence aux deux Oscar qui marque notre ville et notre histoire.

A Little History on The Oscar Hotel
This hotel was totally rebuilt after the war by Auguste Perret.
In the specifications given by the Ministry of Reconstruction, Auguste Perret had to rebuild a hotel as it existed before the bombardment of 1945.
Auguste Perret and his team proceeded to build the hotel Celtic, consiting of 13 rooms with bathroom (toilet and wash basin) and a communal bathroom, a lounge room, a staff room, a bar and a reception.
Unlike all the apartments they designed, the comfort of the hotel was very basic since there was only one shared bathroom for 13 rooms.
During the renovation in 2010, the architect Vincent Duteurtre (the same who worked to classify the city of Le Havre as world heritage) did everything possible to keep the spirit created by Auguste Perret.
The quality of the renovations was celebrated by the city of Le Havre (among others) and since, the hotel itself has been a listed monument on the UNESCO Heritage list.
The name of the hotel was changed at that time in reference to the two Oscars that mark our city and our history.
