A comfortable gîte for hire for holidays in the beautiful unspoilt countryside of the Monts de Blond Haute Vienne 87 FRANCE

This 18th century one bedroom cottage is situated in a small farming hamlet nestled into the hillside in the picturesque and protected Mont de Blond, Haute Vienne, Limousin. The property has been lovingly restored, where possible retaining and exposing all the original features in the property. It now offers original character in the 21st century, with beamed ceilings, small doorways, many origina

l doors, original oak staircase and fireplace with bread oven now fitted with a wood burning stove. Well equipped kitchen/dining room and separate comfy lounge with TV and DVD. One well appointed bedroom for a couple with a standard double bed. A further small room lends itself perfectly for reading, music, study or indeed work! Enjoy your time dining alfresco in the pretty private courtyard. Our French friends and neighbours often say to us how beautiful the house now looks. Only a few minutes drive into the pretty medieval village of Blond which has a boulangerie/épicerie, fruit and vegetable seller, Brocante, artisan lambswool shop, French bar/restaurant “Chez Boulette”, post office and hair dressing salon. A 10 minute drive will lead you to Bellac, the nearest town, with all you need for your holiday, shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets etc and an open air swimming pool in summer months. A 20 minute drive will take you to the town of St. Junien, with its beautiful and historic buildings, restaurants and wonderful shops, swimming pool (indoor and outdoor in summer months). We have put together an extensive information file which provides information on the cottage along with details of all local amenities and activities available. Available for: Weekly/fortnightly rentals or long weekends subject to availability or indeed long term rentals (over 1 month). Super for: Hiking or just strolls, rural/countryside retreat, cycling or VTT, city getaway, fishing, golf, horse riding or indeed sightseeing around the region. Or if you just wish to relax with a good book or sit and sip a glass or two……
Fishing lakes, golf courses (Mortemart 5 minutes drive and St Junien 20 minutes drive), horse riding (2 centres on the Mont de Blond), tennis court in village, walking footpaths, swimming lakes, swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), ice skating (Limoges), ten pin bowling (Limoges), cinemas (local at Bellac & St Junien or large complex in Limoges).

Last summer we took advantage of being closed to paying guests to change the configuration of the cottage to make it a relaxing gîte for a couple. We took the decision to change the former ‘cosy’ single bedroom into a quiet place in which to read, write, play relaxing music, sit quietly or when required to work.
The room is all fresh and bright, adorned with original watercolour paintings by our dearly missed neighbour.
We are thrilled with the result!

We are remaining closed during 2021, taking this opportunity to redecorate and refurnish the gite, changing the configuration to a one bedroom gîte for a couple. The previous small second single bedroom is becoming a quiet room for reading, music or indeed a quiet workspace with desk. We are enjoying changing the gîte, at the same time installing a VMC for a healthier and cleaner air. Watch this space for photos to come! Feeling optimistic for next year and excited about our lovely little holiday home 🏡
