After years and years of Mimizan, we thought it couldn’t get any better, but we’ve never been so glad to be wrong. Sandwiched between the forests and the sea, located at the riverfront only steps away from the beach, and opening in 2018: The Single Fin Hotel & Lodge. Laid-back, beachy and tasteful, it has it all.
The Single Fin Hotel & Lodge is a classic basque landaise home from the outside, but with bohemian comfort inside. Crammed with Scandinavian touches, big sofas, a huge fireplace and quirky treasures from around the world, its décor blends in perfectly in this region that loves its tradition. There are 18 rooms, all with private bathrooms and balcony and they share a large rooftop terrace and an open-plan living area on the ground floor with bar and restaurant facilities.
The hotel is run by a French couple. Arnaud grew up in this hotel ran by his father and after travelling all over the world to find the best surf, him and his wife Aurelie settled here with their daughter Mila. Together they welcome you with the sincere pleasure and personalised advice of natural born hosts – daily breakfast, arranging surf lessons, bike hire or superb massages and yoga they’ll be there for you.
The warm welcome from the staff and the fantastic views set it far above a simple hotel or other surf accommodation and you’re only minutes from the centre of the town.
