Our thoughts go out to the extraordinarily brave pompiers battling the appalling in the . And also to all those who have tragically lost their homes.

We are 60 miles to the NE of the fires and have just had a fall of ash on one day with the recent thunderstorms, but it is as nothing compared to what others have suffered.

Fingers crossed the fires are under control soon.

It's been a very busy start to this season, with some scorching weather for our guests.

In fact, we've been so busy with bookings that we only have these dates left for 2026:

8th to 10th Aug (short break or stopover in summer hols)
24th Sept to 1st Oct
25th Oct to 6th Nov (Half Term and Toussaint holiday)

The days are balmy and the sunsets stay stunning through the autumn (and we keep the pool open!)

Almost impossible to believe that a decade ago today, we became owners of this little piece of paradise!

It's been a long but very rewarding journey to get the house to where it is today and its always heartwarming to receive 5 star reviews time after time from our guests.

From knocking through the dining room to make an open kitchen-diner, redecoration throughout, a new master suite and family bathroom, swimming pool, roofing, guttering, converting a tumbledown garage to a car port, installing a wood burner and adding to the garden - it's been quite a list.

Our profound thanks to Stephen John Stoker, Lucy Mennell and Graham for being with us along the journey.

Here's to many more decades to come!

Throwback to last winter and spring and the Great Renovation of the Garage.

A wall had fallen in and the roof was at risk, so rather than a forgotten space, Iain and Lucy Mennell spent many painstaking hours taking down the roof, lowering the walls and rebuilding to create a wonderful new additional parking space.

The garage and facing walls were topped off with new drainage tiles and it (hopefully) makes a great first impression when you arrive.

Perfect for 2 car parties and no need to move one car to let the other one out!

We've already had a great start to 2026 with June now fully booked, so the garage is looking forward to welcoming more guest cars soon!
