It's Day!

Here at La Calade we are lucky that lots of our bookings are made directly with us; because did you know when you use a booking platform or online travel agent (such as AirBnB, Booking dot com etc) to book a holiday, anywhere between 20 and 35% of what you pay goes to the fat cats rather than the property owner!

Sometimes this means YOU pay a lot more as it's added on top and at other times it means the owner earns a lot less as it is taken out of what you pay. But in all cases the online travel agent gets a lot of your money!

Many gîtes and B&Bs have their own websites and just like hotels you almost always get a better deal when you book direct. ✅

But sometimes it’s hard for you to find the small independent places online because the big corporations spend so much on advertising us little guys just can’t compete.

So if you’re thinking of booking a holiday this year anywhere at all - not just with us (though why not with us?!!) - search on social media and see if you can find your perfect break and get a great deal with the owner.

A little tip is to use the online agents as a directory to search out a place you want then with a little detective work you may well be able to find the owners' website so you can book direct (look for clues such as property names, photos of the house name etc).
