Last week two of our guests from last year returned to spend another short holiday with us. When we checked the room after they had left, we found this gorgeous little mustard pot, a lovely thank you note plus a nice tip -thank you so much Astrid and Manuela, we love it. We look forward to seeing you again.

We have lived here for seven years last May. We always knew there was a loft space behind the wall in the linen room but we didn't know there was access to it. Last week whilst in another loft I pulled back some insulation and there it was. It is about 1m x 4m and almost high enough to stand up in, and there are a couple of original windows hidden inside. When we divided the main loft to make the little loft and the linen room, we didn't expect the linen room to end up being as big as it is so we have now decided to add a window and make a duplex twin bedroom with a separate door to a linen cupboard rather than having a whole room for it. It's very odd to see a space you've never seen before and to find that two spaces are linked in a house you've been living in for seven years.

You gave us almost 16 years of joy, unfortunately we didn't get the chance to say a proper goodbye to you, but now we have you back home once again. Goodbye Poppy, our angel, we will miss you so much.

Nino is almost seven. Last week Nino returned for the second year with his dad and they went fishing. Nino caught two trout and very kindly decided to give them to us for dinner. In return we gave him eggs, soap, lemon jam and a chocolate bar. He also went to see the chickens every morning, he learnt all their names, how to put eggs in a box and wrote the dates on the eggs. Nino, si tu lis ceci, merci, Freddy les a cuisinés et a mis des amandes grillées sur le dessus et ils étaient délicieux.
