🇬🇧 SHORT VERSION: We have snow, don’t panic.
LONG VERSION: Somebody somewhere has told someone that we’re having a heatwave here in the mountains. Suddenly our inbox is full of questions. It *might* top 8°c on the valley floor tomorrow lunchtime for 10 minutes. Absolutely, that’s warm for December. Up in the mountains - where you actually ski - it’ll be more like 3°, likely lower. It’s not raining and the snow is not melting en-masse. There’s still plenty to ski on, which is why all four of our local resorts are opening (three of them earlier than their official opening date) this weekend. There’s no reason to panic.
We had an incredibly cold and snowy November. Natural snow has been managed and maintained, cultured snow has been prepared and stockpiled. The medium-range forecast *suggests* more snow Christmas week.
I get that some elements of the British media like to scare you. Here in the actual mountains it’s snowy, beautiful and everyone is very excited to welcome you this winter 💪

🇫🇷 VERSION COURTE : Il y a de la neige, pas de panique !
VERSION LONGUE : On nous a annoncé une vague de chaleur en montagne. Du coup, notre boîte mail déborde de questions. Il pourrait faire plus de 8 °C dans la vallée demain midi, pendant 10 minutes. C’est chaud pour un mois de décembre, c’est certain. En altitude, là où on skie, il fera plutôt autour de 3 °C, voire moins. Il ne pleut pas et la neige ne fond pas en masse. Il y a encore de quoi skier, c’est pourquoi nos quatre stations locales ouvrent ce week-end (trois d’entre elles plus tôt que prévu). Pas de panique !
Nous avons eu un mois de novembre incroyablement froid et neigeux. La neige naturelle a été gérée et entretenue, la neige artificielle a été préparée et stockée. Les prévisions à moyen terme annoncent encore de la neige pour la semaine de Noël.
Je comprends que certains médias britanniques aiment vous faire peur. Ici, dans les montagnes, il neige, c’est magnifique et tout le monde est ravi de vous accueillir cet hiver 💪
