We had been viewing all kinds of properties for many year and never finding the right one for us in the right location. After a weeks holiday in France in 2015 we returned unsuccessful again. However a week later scrolling through the internet we saw this and this is where our story begins. Its took a whole year to purchase because of the french families extended family and inheritance, but we fin

ally go the keys and this is where our adventures begin to make this our retirement dream. The first job for us was to lower the beams to make more use of the upstairs space, a year on thats nearly finished. We knocked walls, bathroom & staircase down. The only reason we stopped was because the planning permission came through and the roof was started this April. We have had a very successful first year, beams lowered, roof going on, door ways through both downstairs and upstairs. The upstairs flooring base will be going down this week. Update 2018 - The Gite is completed just a little more varnishing to do, so we are able to move out from the camper van and have our first Boxing Day and New Year in the Gite by the open fireplace. Update 2019 - Farmhouse work is coming along nicely. The rooms have all been divided of upstairs. Plasterers have completed the ceiling and walls in the hallway and the two bedrooms. Downstairs floor has been tiled with a cream tile and looks great.

2019 Christmas - We spent another Boxing day and New Year pointing all the downstairs area around the windows and doors then sealing them. Upstairs we cleaned up from the plaster work that had been done and began pointed two very large feature walls. We also pointed around all the windows and again sealed them. We put two new door frames ready for when the plasterers come back again in the New Year for the next stage of work. The Barn door is now complete and has had its first coat of varnish. We have had the farmhouse wood burner going and that is working well. So all in all we are getting there and it's coming together perfectly. Pop back again to see our updates in 2020. 🚗 Véhicule inconnu (fourgon de couleur claire)
