The village of Aubeterre is 8 kms away and is one of the 100 prettiest villages in France. There are several restaurants, bars and gift shops there, and there is a beautiful river beach with a cafe. There is a lovely cycle route to Aube

terre from La Ferriere. Further afield there are other towns such as Cognac and St Emillion which are great for a day out.
