After 21 years of living in France & 18 years of running our gites, we still love the start of each new season.

After working hard to restore not only our main house La Pommeraie, but also to convert 3 old stone barns into 3 high spec beautiful gites. We have truly loved every moment during the 14 years that we have been welcoming our fantastic guests to our little French escape. For 2021we have yet again added more features for the whole family. As well as having a Pirates of the Caribbean themed 30mtr zi

p wire, we have added even more swings, a mini climbing apparatus for little ones, a beautiful Wendy house and a rather large boules court!

Driving through our local town of Matha, when at the bottom of a random street you see a beautiful chateau that stands head and shoulders above the unimposing surrounding houses.

To celebrate Sara and Daisy's birthday 🎂🎈, we decided to book up a 'walking with a Donkey experience'. 9.5kms with Kiriqou our hired Donkey through cool forests and sunny vines. Much fun was had (even though we became totally lost!).
Kiriqou I'm sure was rather bemused being led by a family with no sense of direction ⬇️⬆️!

Driving through one of our local villages we popped in to buy some wonderful goats cheeses from a fromagerie that we had heard about. When we tried the dark little ones, they were extremely strong, I mean really strong (as they are aged). In fact they were the strongest cheese that I've ever eaten. After consuming 1 totally I decided to read the information sheet provided, it stated that these were used to garnish pizzas or pasta and not to be eaten whole! 🫣🤯

Beach ⛱️ day with family. Brill beach with the pepper fine , clean sand. Lifeguards on duty and a few snack bars etc behind us. Free parking very close. 5* from us 😎👍

The best ice-cream shop/ factory in the Charente Maritime, fact! The most amazing flavours around, using lots of locally sourced ingredients. How about 'Cognac & Raisin' or ' Sweet Mirabel Plum' 🤔😋🤯

Our sunflowers are a little late this year, but now they're in bloom, what a beautiful addition of colour to our surroundings 🥰🌻🏖️🌅
