🌊 Skip the beach for one morning.

Everyone comes to the Riviera for the sea. Nobody looks up. Twenty minutes above Menton there’s a village on a ridge, dirt tracks going off in every direction, and a view with Italy on one side. 🇮🇹

📍 CASTELLAR — above Menton, Alpes-Maritimes

I didn’t follow a route. I parked in the village, took a path, and wandered. That’s the whole method. 🥾

🌅 Go early, the light is softer and so is the heat

⚠️ There is no bakery up there. Buy everything before you go up. I checked. 😅

🫐 AND IN SEPTEMBER
The bushes along the paths are heavy with wild blackberries. Warm from the sun, completely free.

I was going to keep some and show you my blackberry tart. 😌 I ate every single one. The tart will have to wait for next year.

This is just a fancy salmon loaf. Or is it. 🍋✨

Layers of silky salmon terrine, smoked salmon 🐟, a bright ginger tartare, and lemony avocado 🥑 — finished with pink peppercorns and dill. It looks like a restaurant starter. It’s actually make-ahead and easier than you think 🙌

The recipe 📝 (serves 6-8)

For the terrine:
🌿 Fresh chives
🐟 500g fresh skinless salmon
🧅 3 shallots, softened in butter
🌸 1 tbsp pink peppercorns, crushed (not powdered!)
🥛 Crème fraîche
🥚 4 eggs
🍋 Zest of 1 lemon
🌱 Fresh dill and chives
🧀 1-2 tbsp Tartare cheese (optional)
🧂 Pepper + a little salt

For serving:
🐟 100g reserved fresh salmon, diced (tartare)
🍣 Thinly sliced smoked salmon
🥑 1 avocado
🌿 Fresh herbs + extra pink peppercorns

The most romantic walk on the French Riviera 💕
Some walks change your day. Others change something inside you ✨

I made a wish on a wildflower 🌼
I walked between pines, the Mediterranean on my side. I leapt for joy — for no reason.
For every reason. I pushed open the gate of Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild — a pink dream at the end of the trail 🌸
I crossed the water, stone by stone. And I sat down, facing the bay of Saint-Jean.
The wind. The silence.
A heart that smiles 💕
