My ongoing renovations

One of my little projects this month has been to enclose our fireplace, and blocking the chimney. Initial preference was a slow combustion/wood stove, but difficulties and expense with the chimney modification canned that idea - and we also needed cooling in summer so we installed reverse-cycle aircon.
This is the result. 😎

What did we get up to today?
Back in May we met a lovely couple from the UK, and fortunate to have caught up with them this trip too.
Today we visited one of the three dozen vineyards in the immediate area; this one was Chateau De Gourgazaud. We heard about the rócese and had a wine tasting 😜. Needless to say several bottles were purchased.

During my visit in May, I decided the entrance, which was all storage, needed conversion into a dining room.
I didn’t want to lose the doors, and had nowhere to put them…

I then revamped the lounge room.

So it’s been almost a month, and my time here is almost at an end.
Apart from paining the doors, I redid the bathroom - the lilac/mauve was 🤢… so I brightened it up with the basic white… same with our kitchen.
As with the doors and windows, it’s all temporary.
Next year we’ll install a completely new bathroom and kitchen.

I also laid slate tiles on the front steps.

As loathe as I am to paint wood (I love the wood grain) this door needed to much work to bring back to former glory - and will be replaced with double-glazing next year.
The refresh paint job is only temporary.
Same with the shutters…
The colour is Maree Haute. (High Tide)

It is sad, but obviously due to Covid19 getting to France (out of Fortress Australia) has been a tad difficult.
Nevertheless, one day I’ll be sharing many more wondrous photos of our picturesque little village and surrounding countryside.😎😜 🇫🇷
