End of season. The house is now wrapped in its winter woollies and will sleep soundly until May next year when we look forward to welcoming our first party of guests. Time to do the seasonal chores like pruning trees, winterising the pool and renovating where necessary. We’ve had a very good year in 2017.

End of season at La Grange. We've had a great year. Mostly very warm but a couple of bad weather weeks.

People are already booking for next year. Three weeks in the diary for 2018.

We just had a cancellation for the last week in August. If anyone fancies a quick break please make us an offer. Weather here is brilliant. The pool is at a great temperature and the champagne, pineau, wine and cognac help the days to pass more than pleasantly.

The pool is 25 degrees. The sun is out. Recliners are ready. Barbecue is fit to be fired up. Guests arriving. Season is open.

Going down to France this coming Thursday. Big spring clean means we will be ready to welcome guests from the start of March. Apparently the weather in France has been just as awful as here in the UK. On the other hand, the wine and food compensates for a smidgen of drizzle. And it should be improving steadily from now on anyway.

First enquiry received for the 2014 season. I can understand why, with cold weather predicted for 2 weeks in Britain, people are thinking about a bit do sun for next year.

Massive storms in the Charente on Friday night. Thunder and lightning, very, very frightening as Freddie Mercury sang. Blew our electrics twice, knocked out the Internet for 48 hours, flattened crops locally and flooded the local town. A nearby village had no power for two days and a local friend even lost water. We were lucky. We still had our phones and electricity. Today of course it's back to lovely weather again and we have new guests at La Grange.

The pool is at 30 degrees. The barbecue is in full employment. A Brit is leading the Tour de France. There's no better time to be at La Grange de Chille.

Our guests from Wiltshire have returned home. We await the arrival of our Belgian visitors later this month. They are coming for the second year running.

The pool is heating up and given the productivity of our hens we will be sharing eggs with future arrivals at La Grange.

Our current guests have been to visit La Vallée des Singes (The Valley of the Monkeys) which is a must see if you have young children.
