Between the Mont Saint Michel and the D-Day landing beaches, welcome to the La Motte farm. In addition to guestrooms for the night, they offer the possibility to attend cookery workshops. Each workshop begins by a theoretical explanation to show the dietetic basis of the theme chosen, the nutritional content of the food and the techniques which will be used. The participants will then prepare the recipes proposed with biological products or products direct from the farm. The workshop finished by a tasting of the dishes prepared.

Built the year the Titanic sunk, this must have been one of those boats Churchill was thinking about when he made his "We'll fight them on the beaches" speech, because it was actually used in the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940 and saw action both in WW1 and WW2. As reward for this, it has now been allowed to retire to the Med and bask in the sun, sitting calmly in the canal de Sete in Languedoc-Roussillon, reliving its former glories. Its cabins are open as guestrooms for any war enthusiasts who wish to stay there and relive some of those glories with it and experience what life was like in a Dunkirk vessel (minus the bombs, torpedoes and panicky rush for the life-rafts).

It isn't going anywhere, but then neither are you..
And who wants to go anywhere when you can stay in such nice surroundings.
This old canal barge, situated in the peaceful waters of the Canal du Midi, on the doorstep of the city of Béziers, awaits you, offering a calm and rustic stay.
Not far from where the Canal, after making its lazy way all the way from the Atlantic, finally pours into the Mediterranean.
Hopefully, the barge is properly moored...

Elle ne va nulle part, mais c'est pas grave parce que vous non plus..
Ce peniche, situé dans les eaux tranquils du Canal du Midi, près de Béziers, vous attend pour un séjour calme et rustique.
Pas loin de là où le canal, après un voyage lent et tranquil depuis l'Atlantique, se jette finalement dans le Méditerranéan.
Espérons que la péniche est bien amarré...

Est-ce que vous appréciez être attaqué par un essaim d'abéilles enragées? Peut-être vous pourriez vous en passer, mais vous aimez manger leur miel délicieux, n'est-ce pas? Dans ce cas, permettez votre hôte bien-aimé d'attaquer les ruches et contentez vous de manger le miel au pétit déjeuner (dont il existe un tas de parfums différent selon les fleurs auprès desquelles les abeilles récoltent le nectar) tout en sympathisant avec lui pour ses efforts. Après tout, il s'agit d'un homme qui a gagne des prix pour son miel, et tout plaisir a un prix. Vous pourriez aussi regarder les abéilles chez eux, si vous aimez prendre les risques.

Chambre d'hôte troglodyte...Qui ne rêve pas de vivre dans une grotte? Quand on parle du fin du monde dans 2012, cela montre que, au fond de nos âmes, on a marre de la vie moderne, civilisée avec toutes ses formulaires d'assurance, le boulot, l'impot sur le revenue, un frigo qui coule et fait des bruits étranges la nuit et qu'on souhaite que cela se termine aussitôt que possible pour qu'on puisse vivre comme nos ancêtes dans une grotte, habillé dans des fourrures et grignotant des os pour le reste de nos vies.
Pourtant, avant de se vouer à une telle vie souterraine, il vaut mieux d'abord l'essayer pour un weekend, donc pourquoi pas se loger dans la chambre "troglodyte" de "La Majorie", qui se trouve aussi dans un joli coin de la France, la Dordogne, dépourvu de mammuths, hélas, mais pleins de jolis paysages et villages. Welcome to the first posting on France Bed and Breakfasts page! If you have read this far, I presume you are interested in taking holidays in France and staying in bed and breakfasts. But just in case you are not, here are the reasons why you should be.
Why France?
- The most visited tourist destination in the world, all those people couldn't be wrong, could they?
- Some of the most beautiful cities in the world, with many features of medieval Europe which have been lost elsewhere on the old continent still very much present.
- Varied countryside - with everything from Europe's highest mountain to Europe's largest sand dune, and the largest number of animal species in Western Europe, France has a wealth of nature, no matter what your taste is. And with such variety comes a variety of sporting activities - skiing, surfing, mountain climbing, cycling, hiking, white water rafting and paragliding to mention a few
- Fabulous food and drink - Everyone knows about the famous French haute cuisine, but not as many people outside France realise that every region in France has its owns specialities, from the crêpes of Brittany to the cassoulet of Castelnaudery, not to mention the famous wines of Bordeaux and Champagne.
- Lots of entertainment - With festivals in every city, town and even village in every season, there is never a shortage of entertainment of the most eclectic kind

Why Bed and Breakfasts?
- The personal touch, you are staying in the house of local people, who know the area, who care about you having a good time with them. Unlike hotels, the staff are the owners of a guesthouse. Therefore, they have a vested interest in making sure you appreciate your stay.
- Flexibility, unlike hotels, bed and breakfasts do not tend to have very strict rules, often you can add extra beds for children cheaply or sometimes for free, arrive late, leave late, it all depends on you and the owner.
- Cheap, bed and breakfast accomodation starts at about 40 Euros for a double room, depending on location and facilities/level of luxury. In many bed and breakfasts, you can get family rooms far cheaper than in a hotel. Also, frequently, discounts are applied the longer you stay.
- Evening meals are often provided. You will eat with the owners of the guesthouse, therefore you know you will eat a good, healthy meal, which is different from the heavy, greasy food one often gets in restaurants.
- Uniqueness - whereas hotels are lamentably similar as a rule, guesthouses have all the variety of individual homes, some of them are simple rooms in a farmhouse, others luxurious château suites, still others unusual accomodation offerings in a windmill or underground cave. Many offer activities in the local area, varying from mountain biking to kayaking to horse-trekking. Also, guesthouses often offer accomomdation a long way from the beaten track, where hotels are absent, enabling you to have an authentic experience of French rural life.

So let's say you are interested in bed and breakfasts in France, or at least are thinking it sounds like a nice idea, then why should you subscribe to this page?
