The End Of An Era
We had a dream to own a property in France ever since we fell in love with skiing ⛷ and the mountains back in 1991
A false start and an unfulfilled dream led us to Le Passeu
AN 18th Century property in need of loving care
The moment we saw it we knew
We got the keys in 2005 and in 2007 we began a project we seriously had no idea 🤷🤷♂️ would take us in the journey it did
A renovation is no project for the faint hearted believe us
But once started there’s no turning back
In 2007 against all odds Alpine Ambiance was launched 🚀 and our first guests stayed with us in January of that year
We remember it well as we were there to welcome them
We never intended to be chalet hosts but we did it and our first guests loved 🥰 their time with us sharing their skiing ⛷ stories over wine 🍷 at dinner
There followed many great stories and the chalet was a success
Providing luxury accommodation in a peaceful rural location but close to the slopes
Over the years the chalet was a favourite of private ski companies until we began a self catering option 2018-19 season
It’s what our clients wanted and they loved it 😊
Then came the global pandemic and the chalet was closed as travel was restricted despite everyone wanted their favourite getaway
From a personal standpoint we also had stuff going on becoming unexpected caters fro Susan’s Mum so reluctantly we put Chalet Le Passeu on the market
Today we completed on the sale and it’s now owned by a French gentleman, his wife and family
We feel we’ve done a good job preserving its heritage and leave with a smile and the favourite saying of the French
“Bon journey”
So here we are saying our final goodbye and thank you for supporting and encouraging us over the years and if you stayed with us
Thank you 🙏
We hope you enjoyed it
Remember
Make the rest of your life the best of your life
Now for the next dream…

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗸𝗶 ⛷ 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭-𝟮𝟮 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗧𝗼 𝗔𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗱
And it’s our last opening and operating Chalet Le Passeu
We would like to thank everyone who has been a guest at the chalet or supported us since we began the journey in 2005 to fulfil our dream 😴 to create a luxury ski chalet which we opened in January 2007
It’s now time for us to retire this dream and begin a new adventure handing back ownership to a French family for their personal use
We could not have asked for more 😀
We will keep our website - AlpineAmbiance.co.uk and begin writing a book 📖 to share our story and inspire others to follow their dream and live their best life
Why not make that winter holiday you promised yourself 😎
Due to a late cancellation we have half term available - full Covid Guarantee

The News We’ve Been Waiting For
The rules that apply from Friday January 14 2022 for travel between the UK and France are as follows :
All travelers, vaccinated or not, must initially present a negative test (PCR or antigen test) of less than 24 hours.
Prior to departure, vaccinated people authorized to enter France from the UK will have to present to the transport company (depending on their situation):
1. A negative PCR or TAG test less than 24 hours old
Travellers (12 years old or more) have to provide the result of a negative PCR or antigen test (in paper or digital format) carried out less than 24h hours prior to departure.
Self-administered tests whose results are not certified by a laboratory (e.g. free tests provided by the NHS) are not authorized for travel. The NHS has stated that it will not carry out any tests for the purposes of travel. People should therefore use private organizations providing a similar service. No specific tests exist which are linked to the new variant identified.
Day 2 tests may be used for your return to France if they comply with the time criteria (less than 24 hours old) and contain the necessary information (type of test, date and time, name of laboratory, your full name and date of birth etc.)
N.B. We also strongly advise you to contact your travel operator to find out more about their travel requirements.
2. A proof of vaccination
3. A declaration of honor
A sworn statement certifying the absence of COVID-19 symptoms and of any contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to their crossing.
From Friday 14th January 2022, fully vaccinated travellers will be permitted to enter France from the UK without needing an essential reason for travel and without having to quarantine.
Unvaccinated travellers will continue to have to demonstrate a pressing need to quarantine and self-isolate on arrival.
Full details of requirements to enter France are yet to be officially announced, as are rules for children aged 12-17
Check here for full details before booking to ensure you comply

We’re devastated to have to announce that once again the virus 🦠 has led to us having to close the chalet to our guests
We pray that when things are under control we can once again open up the chalet
Thank you for your understanding
Stay safe and do all you can to help us fight this
In a ‘devastating’ blow to British ski holidays, France is to tighten up restrictions on travel to and from Britain to slow the spread of the omicron variant.

It was back in March2005 that we walked down "Moulin High Street" (now called Route des Mauilles) and saw Chalet LePasseu - at the time an old house and barn in need of some TLC
Everyone thought we were mad to take on such a project but it was always our dream to have a chalet in the French Alps and we knew we could make it happen
Those were the keys that arrived in the post from the Notaire in October 2005 when the deal was done and we were now the proud owners of a 4 bedroom house, a “grange” (barn) garden and a field
Now you are beginning to see the picture and why everyone thought we were quite mad...
So we set to work finding an architect, a project manager and the team that would make our dream come true... let’s say it definitely was not all plain sailing and there were many tears of frustration shed over the years... but we never gave up!
You can see the full story over on our website ChaletLePasseu
Renovations began in April 2007 and December 2007 we were spending Christmas painting 7 bathrooms as we had our first guests arriving in January 2008
It was a learning curve of gigantic proportions but we will never forget the friendship of some very special people who helped us make it happen after our project manager went “awol” and the artisans who taught us some less well known French vocabulary :-)
Now we have a stunning chalet offering self catering concierge service style mountain vacation holidays winter and summer...for families, groups and corporate masterminds
Making your dreams come true
We look forward to welcoming you to our home in the Alps
