Here we are again ---- starting a new season at this marvelous Provencal location. We have already had the French Chef's Week which was a happy and amazing experience!! Participants are going to send me photos which I will post as I receive them. . . . . . In the meantime look at the website for more photos. . . . . . . www.lelavandinprovence.com

This is late Thursday afternoon and the two Portuguese gardeners are just leaving ---- they are so capable and I am very fond of them!! Autumn is really setting in ------ the tomato plants are almost finished producing ripe tomatoes and that is good as I have made about 30 lbs. of tomatoes into yummy sauce for friends, family and my winter evenings. The temperatures cooling (we were in the 90's for too long) is allowing the flowers to take a deep breath and begin a bit of flowering again ----- especially the several hundred rose bushes. I cannot read about nor listen to the political brouhaha without feeling sick ------ how could all this be going on??? My daughter and I are both casting our early votes but who knows what is really going to happen. . . . . . . . it will all be decided before too long and then we will just adjust. . . . . . . right? Hmmmmm. . . . . . .

I truly have neglected this page and I keep telling myself that I won't let it happen again------but so much for that!! Many of you have looked at it and written and I thank you immensely!! I have some photos I want to post but think I have to ask my granddaughter to help me!!! The gardens are absolutely beautiful now although the hot temperatures of two weeks ago and the ones coming now do take their toll. Beautiful guests but fewer than normal which is happening everywhere in France as people hesitate to travel. I thank all of you who have written and/or ached over the news coming from Paris and now Nice (in addition to all the other tragedies we know about). I do feel safe and am actually very happy with my own daily experiences and encounters. . . . . .how lucky am I??? Sending strong wishes for good health and an abundance of what you seek to each of you. . . . . .

I am now with my daughter and her family high up in the French Alps and am on my way home tomorrow!! Will take photos as the gardens develop with spring coming on in my part of the world. . . . . .they really are glorious and I love to share them!!
Hmmmm, guess I want to say something that I have just realized: the peacefulness of being away from the political news and disgustingly humiliating dialogue is very very nice!!!!!!!!

I am two weeks away from going back to France and Le Lavandin. I have had a terrific time with family and friends and now am really ready to go home, play/work in the garden, prepare the Guest House, be with my French friends and eat some of that wonderful fresh French food. I am looking forward to being with all the guests who have contacted me and made reservations ----- and there is still space for a few more!!

WOW!!! I thought we were having a lot of snow at the end of December BUT that was nothing compared to what January has given to SLC and the surrounding ski resorts. I will be back in Provence in early March just in time to see the tulips and daffodils. The gardens are more beautiful each year ---- I am so lucky!!!

What began as a simple and beautiful bed and breakfast in Provence has become a destination— a place to visit over and over again. Some think of it as a retreat, for others it is a perfect base for a variety of day trips, for still others it is a welcome combination of activity and relaxation— an abundance of flowers, trees, water features, biking and walking trails.
