~Story of La Brave~

The most challenging task to renovate Domaine de La Brave - a “Relais de Poste” (Post house) from the 16th century - was to preserve its ancient charm while providing modern facilities to ensure the maximum comforts of our guests.

We have decided to keep the old wooden doors in some of the suites. To recover these beauties of the past, we first carried them to a local skillful carpenter for the refinishing. The question mounted when we realized that there was only one key from the original iron lock. And since this type of key was not fabricated these days anymore in France , we then headed to the antique market in L’isle-sur-la-Sorgue to find a second matching key. After so many hours and countless attempts of trying, a miracle finally happened just when we were about to give up. Among hundreds of the old keys which were long separated from their locks in the passage of time, we did find one that would fit our lock perfectly!

The breakfast is always a serious matter in Domaine de La Brave. Every morning when the first rays of sun rising from behind the Mont Ventoux, the hostess Shannon also begins her daywork by preparing fresh fruit cup, squeezing orange juice, setting up the tables in the peaceful garden, and then riding her scooter to the village to fetch the baguettes and pastries which just come out from the bakery’s oven.

At the service time, we also provide artisanal jam, various cheese & ham, yogurt, granola, eggs and the best part to complete a healthy and tasty breakfast - homemade pancakes, crêpes or French toasts!
